Surgical Technician

Under the direct leadership and guidance of the Registered Nurse, the Surgical Tech performs various duties, both nursing and non-nursing in the treatment and care of patients and their environments. This will encompass patients of all ages in all levels of growth and development on any assigned unit. These duties will be performed in accordance with required competency skills, established policies and procedures, and in the best interest of patients, visitors, physicians, community and The Medical Center associates. The Surgery Technician prepares the operating room with equipment, instruments, and supplies, assists in positioning the patient, and establishes and maintains the integrity of the sterile field.

Responsibilities:

• Assists in collection of data and reports changes observed in patient condition or behavior to the Registered Nurse at regular intervals.
• Contributes to the patient plan of care.
• Implements routine patient care and treatment procedures appropriate to age with respect to levels of growth and development under the guidance of the Registered Nurse in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner in accordance with established policies and procedures. Includes all and any persons entrusted in our care.
• Prepares patient for treatments or examinations and assist physician, Registered Nurse, or Licensed Practical Nurse as necessary.
• Maintains patient privacy at all times.

Qualifications:

Previous experience or graduation from an accredited surgical technology program is preferred. Certification in surgical technology(CST) is required within first year of employment.
