This position will report to the Senior Vice President and Director of Corporate Insurance and work closely with the entire insurance department. Corporate Insurance currently consists of eight professionals, all in downtown Minneapolis. This position is considered Hybrid, so requires attendance in the office as needed each week (average 3 days per week).
The ideal candidate will have strong analytic skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Excel. This candidate should have excellent communication skills, a strong desire to learn and develop new skills, including negotiation, policy and contract review, and data analysis.
This position will:
Oversee the Corporate Insurance Department budget. This will involve working with the Director and others within the department to track monthly expenses and performance relative to budget and communicate budget details to accounting and finance teams as needed.
Oversee and update existing controls within the corporate risk management database. This will involve working with the Risk Management Team within Corporate Finance to assure controls keep pace with Audit expectations, as well as ensure all current controls are being followed and documented appropriately.
Report operational losses to Corporate Risk Management. This will involve creating and analyzing monthly reports of all appropriate losses reported to Corporate Insurance.
Assist in the negotiation of contract wording in third party agreements. This will involve working with contract team, legal department, and various business lines as well as various vendors or customers as necessary.
Assist in the investigation of third-party liability claims through review of surveillance video.
Oversee auto, general liability and workers' compensation claims This will involve communication with the bank's third party claims administrator, nurse case manager as well as outside counsel, and continue providing claim direction until claim closure.
Pursue recovery from third parties causing damage to U.S. Bank property or injuries to a U.S. Bank employee. This will involve communication with U.S. Bank employees, the claims administrator, third parties and U.S. Bank property managers.
Conduct/participate in annual audits of two claim vendors.
Conduct/participate in quarterly claim reviews.
Maintain, improve and facilitate relationships with internal and external customers.
Provide ideas for process improvement within the department and the organization as a whole.
Assist with and/or manage processes and projects related to insurance and claims.
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
- One or more years of related experience
- Working knowledge of financial analysis techniques and general accounting procedures
- Well-developed mathematical and analytical skills
- Basic knowledge in financial analysis, forecasting, and planning
- Ability to identify and resolve exceptions and to analyze data
- Basic technical skills related to data mining and visualization tools
- Advanced Excel proficiency

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, US Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401k contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
