Staff Software Engineer - 100% Remote - FTE

Optomi, in partnership with a leading pet screening technology company, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join a high-impact engineering organization. This person will serve as a key technical partner across product, architecture, and engineering teams, helping translate product requirements into scalable technical designs while staying hands‑on with development. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across multiple teams, leading technical discussions, influencing architecture decisions, and owning delivery in a fast‑moving environment. The team is also exploring AI and LLM‑driven initiatives, so this person will have the opportunity to help shape engineering practices around emerging AI capabilities. Responsibilities Partner with product, architecture, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical designs. Contribute hands‑on to application development, system design, and technical delivery. Lead technical discussions with stakeholders, engineering teams, and leadership. Help guide architecture decisions across multiple teams or pods. Build and support scalable, modern applications using AWS, TypeScript/Node.js, PostgreSQL, and microservices. Own delivery accountability and help drive projects from design through implementation. Support AI experimentation efforts and help define best practices around AI/LLM engineering where applicable. Experience Strong system design and architecture experience in modern software environments. Hands‑on development experience with the ability to contribute directly to coding and technical implementation. Experience with AWS, TypeScript, Node.js, and PostgreSQL. Full‑stack engineering competency, with a strong backend focus. Experience designing and building microservices or modern distributed architectures. Ability to work cross‑functionally with product, architecture, engineering, and leadership teams. Strong communication skills and comfort leading technical conversations. Self‑starter mindset with the ability to operate in a high‑ownership, multi‑team environment.
