IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern in St. Louis, Missouri. Over 10-12 weeks, you’ll assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry while gaining hands‑on experience alongside experienced engineers and consultants. In this role, you’ll support project documentation, coordination, and job site observations while helping teams work within project budgets and meet client expectations. You’ll collaborate across disciplines on healthcare-focused MEP work while advancing high-performance, energy-efficient design. At a Glance Location: St. Louis, MO Discipline: Mechanical Markets: Healthcare; MEP Ownership: 100% employee-owned (ESOP) Work Schedule: Full-time in office Program Length: 10-12 week summer program Sponsorship: Not available What You’ll Do Assist with mechanical system design according to code and company standards Research commercially available equipment and supporting resources Support client relations, project design notebooks, and permanent record documentation Coordinate design activities and schedules with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment supplier teams Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project progress Review project documents for accuracy and completeness before final check Help prepare and issue addendum information Conduct periodic job site observations and support other services required by the contract services agreement What You’ll Bring Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred Strong interest in design consulting Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups Why IMEG We put people at the center of who we are, creating positive outcomes for people, communities, and our planet.
