KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Classroom Responsibilities Serve as a lead or co‑lead in one or more classrooms, including independent teaching, co‑teaching, short‑ or long‑term coverage, or stepping into a lead role later in the year. Ensure all children are affirmed, valued, and challenged daily. Foster a positive and safe learning environment. Prepare and internalize rigorous and engaging unit and daily lessons, leveraging provided curricula/resources and intellectual preparation tools. When applicable, create academically aligned lesson plans, unit plans, rubrics, and assessments. Set specific, ambitious growth goals for all students and identify resources to support their attainment. Innovate best practices to deliver engaging, differentiated instruction that is rigorous for all students. Implement aligned school‑wide or grade‑level student culture systems and proactive classroom management strategies. Regularly analyze student work and academic data to modify lessons, refine curricula, and inform instruction. Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date student grades/records and communicate regularly with students and families about growth and progress. School and Professional Responsibilities Participate in school‑wide and individual professional development, including pre‑service training over the summer and weekly sessions during the academic year. Take ownership of professional growth by seeking and implementing feedback from coaches and collaborating with teammates within and beyond school‑designed structures. Perform assigned duties including classroom coverage, bus, lunch, transition, and dismissal responsibilities. Build strong relationships with families through participation in school events and consistent communication via phone, text, and email. Offer support and receive constructive feedback from colleagues to create a professional atmosphere conducive to accountability, change, and improvement. Collaborate with grade‑level and content teams to tackle common challenges and implement grade‑wide systems, sharing responsibility for all students. Maintain dependable attendance according to the school calendar, proactively communicating when attendance barriers arise. General Requirements and Responsibilities Act with integrity, empathy, self‑awareness, and critical consciousness in accordance with KIPP MA’s Code of Conduct. Engage in regional professional development and community events as required. Demonstrate ability to collect, interpret data, evaluate, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and make timely decisions that meet school needs. Exhibit self‑awareness, flexibility, and emotional intelligence to navigate diverse student needs. Use interpersonal and self‑management skills to support behavioral and emotional needs, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment. Communicate effectively with students, staff, families, and others in person, through written communication, in front of groups, and on virtual platforms. Move physically in various positions to perform duties, including kneeling, walking, pushing, pulling, squatting, twisting, turning, and bending. Possess physical strength sufficient to lift or carry up to 20 pounds of materials and, if necessary, restrain a student in an emergency. Have manual dexterity to perform repetitive hand, wrist, or arm motions and operate computer and office equipment. Receive support from experienced leadership and staff to perform the demanding teaching role. Perform occasional additional duties as assigned to promote a positive and calm learning environment and culture.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 2+ years of full‑time teaching experience. Bachelor’s degree required. Pass a criminal background check. What We Offer The minimum base salary for this exempt position is $55,000 to $89,500 (per 1.0 FTE/45 hours per week), depending on years of relevant experience after the Bachelor's degree and any advanced degrees (+$3,000 for first advanced degree and +$1,500 for second advanced degree). The role includes a $1,000 signing bonus and an annual $2,000 retention bonus in subsequent years, as well as other bonuses when eligible. This position follows the school year calendar.
