ED Holding Support RN - Night Shift

This is a 13-week contract position.

Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45 - 07:15)

The ED Holding unit is dedicated to caring for patients located within the Emergency Department who are awaiting an inpatient bed. This position may require handling patients with various medical/surgical adult diagnoses, including potential PCU level cases. Staff will be expected to take MS/Tele assignments and float to ED and MedSurg areas as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor and manage patients in the ED holding area
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias
• Administer telemetry monitoring, both on unit and remote
• Perform colostomy and feeding tube care and management
• Manage renal failure and administer blood products
• Provide care for patients requiring peripheral line management and phlebotomy
• Handle PICC line management and medication administration
• Observe isolation precautions and manage various airway interventions including CPAP/BiPAP
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and manage oxygen administration

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Active BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Experience with high acuity patients preferred
• Prior experience in a float pool or similar environment is a plus
