Ironworker- Rigging and Erecting Position Overview
We are seeking experienced Assembly Specialists / Ironworkers to support the rebuilding and expansion of our Laydown Area at the Port. This is a hands-on position for individuals with experience in structural steel, rigging, erecting, and ironwork.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working with large steel structures, rigging equipment, and hand and power tools. Candidates should be safety-minded, dependable, and able to work effectively as part of a crew on an active industrial site.
Pay & Schedule- Pay: $24–$26 per hour, based on experience
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 4:00 AM–2:30 PM
- Shift: Day shift
- Early start time is designed to help employees work during cooler portions of the day due to outdoor heat conditions.
- Assemble and install large structural steel components and assemblies.
- Perform ironwork, structural steel erection, and rigging activities.
- Safely rig, move, position, and set steel components using appropriate rigging equipment.
- Assist with the erection and installation of structural steel and other large components.
- Read and follow work instructions, drawings, and specifications as required.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and other equipment necessary for structural assembly.
- Work as part of an ironworker/erection crew to safely complete projects.
- Inspect rigging, tools, and equipment before use and report any safety concerns.
- Maintain proper communication with crew members during lifting, positioning, and installation activities.
- Follow all site safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Perform additional duties related to structural assembly and ironwork as assigned.
- Previous experience as an Ironworker, Structural Steel Erector, Rigger, or Assembly Specialist.
- Hands-on experience with rigging and structural steel erection is required.
- Experience working with large steel structures and components strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with rigging equipment, lifting procedures, and safe load handling.
- Ability to safely use common hand and power tools.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety practices.
- Ability to work outdoors and perform physically demanding work.
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to work an early morning schedule.
The strongest candidates will have a background in ironwork, structural steel erection, rigging, or heavy industrial assembly. This is not a light assembly position — we are looking for individuals who have experience rigging and erecting substantial steel structures and are comfortable working in a physically demanding industrial environment.
