Field Service Technician – Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Onsite – Rhinelander, WI)A leading forestry and heavy-equipment organization is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to join its onsite operations in Rhinelander, WI. This role supports repair, maintenance, and diagnostic work on logging machinery (harvesters and forwarders) and requires a seasoned technician who excels in hands-on mechanical troubleshooting and field service work.Key ResponsibilitiesDiagnose, troubleshoot, rebuild, and repair heavy logging equipmentPerform inspections and preventive maintenance on machineryInterpret and work from hydraulic and electrical schematicsMaintain accurate service records, reports, and documentationTravel from the Rhinelander site to customer locations for field repairs and technical supportFollow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work areaRequired Qualifications8–10 years of experience as a heavy equipment technician, including field serviceExtensive knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, and schematic interpretationTwo-year degree in a heavy equipment technician program OR equivalent experienceAbility to obtain a CDL (or currently holds one)Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in EnglishPreferred ExperiencePrior hands-on experience with:CaterpillarJohn DeereKomatsuVolvoExperience with acetylene and electric arc weldingWork EnvironmentOnsite role based in Rhinelander, WIFrequent exposure to outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts, fumes, and vibrationOccasional exposure to extreme temperaturesLoud noise levels typical of heavy equipment environmentsPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tight spaces throughout the dayAbility to lift and move 50+ lbs regularlyStrong vision abilities including depth perception, color vision, and close/distance focusScheduleFull-timeMonday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PMRegular travel to customer job sites from the Rhinelander locationEqual Employment Opportunity StatementLink Recruiting, LLC is an equal opportunity employer.
