Job Title: Research Associate II

Location: South San Francisco, CA 94080 – Fully Onsite

Duration: 12+ Month Contract

Working Model: Fully onsite

Schedule: Standard 9:00 AM–5:00 PM PST; flexibility for earlier or later shifts, with start times potentially as late as 3:00 PM

Pay Rate: 36$-40$/hr. On W2

Position Overview

Astellas is seeking a Research Associate II to support nonclinical bioanalytical research activities in a highly laboratory-focused environment. The position will primarily involve tissue handling and extraction followed by execution of bioanalytical assays including ddPCR, qPCR, ELISA, and/or MSD.

The selected candidate will receive extensive initial training on team-specific SOPs, processes, and assays and will transition to independent laboratory work after successfully completing training.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform tissue handling, tissue processing, and extraction of protein, DNA, and/or RNA from human and/or animal tissue.
• Execute bioanalytical assays including ddPCR, qPCR, ELISA, MSD , and related laboratory techniques.
• Perform nonclinical sample processing and analysis.
• Analyze, compile, and perform QC of experimental data.
• Follow SOPs, study documentation, and established laboratory procedures.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and traceable documentation in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP) .
• Support preparation and maintenance of analysis plans and SOPs.
• Participate in team meetings, project discussions, and study alignment activities.
• Support and train other analysts on laboratory methods and best practices as needed.
• Manage multiple studies and high-volume laboratory work while maintaining quality and accuracy.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline; Master's degree preferred.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in bioanalytical, molecular biology, or a related laboratory environment.
• Hands-on experience with tissue handling/extraction or tissue processing .
• Hands-on experience with qPCR/ddPCR and ELISA and/or MSD .
• Demonstrated experience following SOPs and study documentation.
• Existing experience with Good Documentation Practices (GDP) .
• Strong organizational, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, project-driven laboratory environment.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently after training.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with both ddPCR and MSD .
• Experience supporting GLP or non-GLP toxicology, bioanalytical, or IND-enabling studies.
• Experience with Hamilton or other automated liquid-handling systems .
• Experience with LIMS, ELN, and electronic data workflows.
• Experience in gene therapy, biologics, or biomarker analysis.
• Experience with GraphPad Prism, SoftMax Pro, JMP, Excel, SnapGene, or similar software.

Work Environment

This is a fully onsite position at 480 Forbes Blvd, South San Francisco, CA. The team is looking for candidates who are comfortable with a laboratory-intensive role and flexible scheduling, including potential later shifts
