Position: Occupational Therapist/Hand Therapist

Location: Grand Forks, ND

Shift: 5x8 Days

Duration: 14 weeks

Job Description:

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for evaluating and treating patients in accordance with applicable licensure standards. This role involves working with an interdisciplinary team to develop patient goals, care plans, and to identify barriers to discharge. The therapist will provide patient-centered care, including education for patients and families on treatment procedures, assistive devices, home programs, and other health-related topics.

Key Responsibilities:

• Select and administer evaluation and treatment methods appropriate to the patient's age, diagnosis, symptoms, and physician orders.
• Orient patients, families, and other relevant parties to the purpose and procedures of therapy evaluations and treatments.
• Provide education and support tailored to the needs of patients and their families.
• Coordinate treatment schedules with other disciplines using established scheduling procedures.
• Monitor program effectiveness and outcomes, initiating and developing new programs as necessary.
• Conduct pain assessments and take appropriate actions in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Document all required patient information accurately, including precautions, orders, and initial plans of care.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and document discharge plans accurately.
• Identify significant changes in patients' conditions and respond appropriately through reporting and documentation.
• Provide clinical supervision to Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTA) in compliance with state licensure and care delivery standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the department or organization.

Qualifications:

• Current Occupational Therapist license in North Dakota.
• Experience in hand therapy preferred; Certification in Hand Therapy (CHT) is a plus.
• Proficient in creating custom hand splints.
• Travel experience is required.

Certifications Required:

• Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) - National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association
