We aspire to a safe workplace and environment of growth and development for our employee family for today and future generations.The Senior Mechanic oversees and participates in the more complex diagnostic, repair, and maintenance work on a variety of automotive, truck, tractors and trailer equipment ensuring adherence to safe working practices and procedures. The Senior Mechanic provides training and mentoring to less experienced mechanics.Responsibilities:Trains assigned employees in maintenance and repair methods, procedures, and techniques; leads, assigns and inspects the work of subordinates and participates in all associated work; verifies work performed for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques, and compliance with applicable standards and specifications; ensures adherence to safe work practices and procedures. Assists in the evaluation of employees. In the absence of supervision may provide maintenance supervisory duties.Prescribes procedures, methods, and materials to staff on complex projects as assigned.Reads and interprets schematics, shop manuals, and other related materials in performing work assignments and to stay abreast of the current technology.Operate a forklift.Performs preventive maintenance and ensures the timely and effective repair of any problems identified during an inspection. Determines the extent of necessary repairs, scheduling of repairs, and associated cost and material estimates. Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.Performs inspection, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, AC, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment. Advises supervisor immediately if additional work is needed or if repairs cannot be completed within the Standard Repair Times (SRTs).Estimates time and material costs on repairs and requisitions new parts. Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.Conducts safety checks on vehicles.Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.Must possess mechanical aptitude along with a minimum of 5 years of experience as a fleet maintenance technician and/or completion of an accredited diesel technician program.In-depth experience with practices, techniques, materials, tools, and equipment used in the diagnosis, repair, preventative maintenance, and modification of a wide variety of technical equipment, including Tractor, Trailers and other equipment apparatus and their component systems.Must be DOT certifiable and must have a CDL w/hazmat or acquire a CDL w/hazmat within 12 months of employment. CMV PM/DOT Inspector Qualified.CMV Air Brake Certified for drum and disc brakes.CMV 609 A/C Certified and proficient in A/C system diagnosis and repair.Completion of an accredited diesel technician program is preferred. ASE Certification (T2-T9).Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.Excellent knowledge of all types and use of special tools and electronic test equipment common to the automotive repair trade.Must have the ability to keep apprised of current technology in repairing and diagnosing vehicles, equipment, and their component systems.Strong knowledge of the procedures used in the repair and maintenance of gas and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.In-depth knowledge of regulations, standards and guidelines pertaining to the work, including state and federal inspection guidelines.Ability to follow all motor vehicle rules and regulations involved in the safe operation of all vehiclesJob Requirements:Ability to understand oral and written communication.Utilize service manuals, technical bulletins and various written directives.Must be able to work any shift.Own necessary basic tools.Physical Demands:Must be able to lift to 50 pounds.May also engage in standing, lifting, twisting, turning, climbing a ladder, etc.Due to the open environment of the shop, must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions to include extreme heat, humidity and cold.Must also be able to tolerate wearing personal protective equipment, including, but not limited to, a hard hat, steel toed safety shoes, hearing protection, respirators, safety glasses, goggles.Benefits:Competitive compensationBenefits, including but not limited to dental, vision, and medical with employer contributions.401(k) Plan with employer contributionsPaid holidays and vacationAnd more
