Product Engineer

We are hiring a Product Engineer to work in our Global Innovation Center in Grand Rapids, MI with other product developers to create, develop, and implement new products. What You Will Be Doing: This position will be in our Tables team responsible for researching, designing, and developing Steelcase's portfolio of tables designed to support collaboration, adaptability, and technology integration across a space. This team blends human-centered design, user experience research, and industrial design expertise to create surface solutions that support modern work behaviors. You will be a member of a cross-functional team working to develop complex system products involving multiple materials and manufacturing processes. Who You Are: Superior problem-solving skills Strong verbal abilities as well as analytical skills Ability to envision how the product and manufacturing processes can be developed together and how the product will function in the market Builds strong connections by seeking input and fostering open dialogue across departments/functions Demonstrates a strong sense of responsibility and ownership for outcomes, driving initiatives to successful completion A high level of inquisitiveness over a number of areas; an avid curiosity about how things work Tirelessly pursues answers with the belief that a solution always exists—sometimes it just requires exploring new perspectives and looking in unexpected places Ability to manage and prioritize multiple ongoing projects Enjoy working with your hands and using various methods of prototyping A love for exploring new ideas, places, and things outside as well as in work A genuine and real passion for creating Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical degree required Minimum 3+ years’ work experience in product development within an engineering discipline Experience creating and defining performance requirements on engineering drawings Ability to apply mechanical engineering principles and knowledge of material science, manufacturing processes, and tools in product engineering Strong understanding of tolerance analysis Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency in Creo and/or Windchill Experience performing and understanding FEA Prior experience in furniture industry or working with related materials Ability to use various methods and techniques in solving technical problems The starting annual base salary range for this position is $85,000 – $100,000.
