Position Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide comprehensive nursing care services to youth within a secure juvenile correctional setting while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and established nursing practices. The RN will be responsible for medication administration, nursing assessments, treatment planning, infection prevention, clinical documentation, and participation in the facility's multidisciplinary medical treatment team. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical judgment, excellent assessment skills, and the ability to provide safe, patient-centered care within a secure residential environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide nursing interventions and medication administration consistent with established nursing standards and regulatory requirements. • Assess, monitor, and evaluate the overall physical and mental health status of youth residing within the facility. • Prepare, review, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing intervention and treatment plans. • Ensure nursing interventions are consistent with comprehensive treatment plans and established healthcare objectives. • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders, nursing protocols, and facility policies. • Maintain and monitor general medical inventory, including controlled substances, in compliance with applicable policies and regulatory requirements. • Document patient assessments, treatments, nursing interventions, and clinical outcomes accurately and in a timely manner. • Participate as an active member of the facility's multidisciplinary medical treatment team. • Prepare required clinical, medical, and administrative reports. • Maintain infection prevention and infection control standards throughout the

healthcare environment. • Participate in staff training, professional development activities, and required facility meetings. • Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals, nursing staff, and facility personnel to ensure continuity and quality of patient care. • Perform additional nursing duties and responsibilities as assigned to support facility healthcare operations.

Work Schedule & Conditions
• Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday • Shift Hours: 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM • Days Off: Sunday and Monday • Overtime: Not required • Travel: Not required • Holidays: Required to work New York State holidays as scheduled

Facility Information
• Brookwood Secure Center for Youth is located in the Hudson Valley region of New York State, southeast of the City of Hudson. • The facility serves male and female juvenile offenders within a secure residential environment. • Youth may remain in the custody of the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) until age 21, depending upon sentencing requirements. • Brookwood Secure Center is accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA). • The facility has a current population of approximately 100 youth.

Qualifications & Requirements
• Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York. • Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and patient care skills. • Experience in correctional healthcare, juvenile services, behavioral health, residential treatment, pediatrics, or related healthcare settings preferred. • Knowledge of nursing intervention planning, infection prevention and control practices, and healthcare documentation standards. • Ability to manage medical inventory and controlled substances in accordance with established requirements. • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary healthcare and treatment teams. • Excellent communication, organizational, documentation, and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work independently and exercise sound clinical judgment in a secure residential setting.
• Commitment to patient safety, quality care, confidentiality, and professional nursing standards.

Background Check Requirements
• Criminal Background Check (CBC), including State and Federal Criminal History Record Checks. • Fingerprinting required as part of the background investigation process. • Screening through the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). • Screening through the Justice Center Staff Exclusion List (SEL). • All background investigation fees will be covered by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (NYS OCFS). • Upon award, the selected vendor will receive the required SCR and SEL forms, and the candidate will be contacted directly by NYS OCFS to schedule fingerprinting. • Employment start date will be confirmed upon successful completion and review of all background investigation requirements.

Vaccination & Medical Requirements
• Must meet all facility-required medical clearance and health screening requirements prior to assignment.

Required Training
• Facility-specific orientation and mandatory training as required by the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) prior to assignment.

Additional Information
• One (1) Registered Nurse position is available. • The selected candidate must be available to work the overnight schedule of Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM, with Sunday and Monday designated as regular days off. • This position is located within a secure juvenile correctional facility, and candidates must comply with all facility security procedures, safety protocols, and professional practice standards. • Additional responsibilities and facility-specific expectations may be discussed during the interview and onboarding process.
