As a Maintenance Technician you will assist with the company's preventative maintenance fleet program and equipment repairs and diagnostics that include hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, automotive, diesel and heavy equipment repair. Responsibilities Performs routine maintenance and repairs of on road equipment; LD-HD trucks, tractors, trailers and other heavy equipment Conducts inspection, diagnosis, and repair of diesel engines, emission systems, hydraulic systems, suspensions, drive-train components, electrical, air conditioning, air brakes, computer diagnostics and welding/fabricating. Performs preventive maintenance inspections (PMI); troubleshoot, repair vehicles and equipment; ensure accurate diagnosis and effective repair and/or replacement of components Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs Responsible for owning and maintaining all tools that will support company assets. Performs field service calls for emergency breakdowns. Conducts safety checks for highway vehicles that include the federal annual 90-day bit inspection program and have a basic understanding of how the FMCSA score program works and the importance of compliance. Completes required paperwork associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times Works under limited supervision using written or verbal instructions and established procedures to accomplish assigned tasks Maximizes equipment availability using an efficient and proactive preventative maintenance program Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications Knowledge of advanced automotive and equipment servicing and repair; general use of personal computer and other related diagnostic equipment and software Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions Experience in troubleshooting vehicle service and repair issues Ability to perform heavy physical labor Ability to operate computer and/or other related equipment Ability to follow company safety protocols and safe work practices. Must demonstrate effective decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation. Must have or be able to obtain a valid Class A driver's license with tankers and HazMat endorsements is a plus. Must pass a background check and drug test Education and/or Experience Experience in heavy duty truck and commercial vehicle repair and diagnostics of diesel engines, emission systems, hydraulic systems, suspensions, drive-train components, electrical, air conditioning, air brakes, and computer diagnostics Five years of experience assisting skilled mechanics in the repair and maintenance of heavy truck and trailer repairs High school diploma or equivalent Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
