Registered Nurse - Perioperative Specialty

The competent nurse in a perioperative setting practices independently and demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of each situation. Provides routine and complex care while continuing to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as necessary to help manage clinical situations.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administers medications and treatments according to appropriate protocols; monitors for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care given.
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required (AHA only).
• RN License in the state of Texas or compact required.
• Critical Care, PreOp, and EPIC experience highly recommended/preferred.

Schedule

This position typically involves a 5-day workweek with 8-hour shifts, though a 4x10 schedule can be accommodated.
