QUALIFICATIONS:

SUPERVISES: Instructional, Support, Administrative, and Service Personnel assigned to the school
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Student Learning / Continuous School Improvement / Instructional Program Management / Development
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects. In an emergency, worker may be required to restrain a physically active individual as a temporary safety precaution.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree from an accredited educational institution.
- Certification in Educational Leadership and Level II School Principal.
- Three (3) years of successful administrative experience.
- Three (3) years of successful teaching experience.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Student Learning / Continuous School Improvement / Instructional Program Management / Development
- Manage and administer the instructional program to ensure all students have the opportunity to learn.
- Create and maintain a school climate and culture of high expectations and enable school personnel to support the academic growth and well-being of all students.
- Provide leadership and direction for the implementation and to ensure alignment of the school's learning goals and classroom instruction to the state's student academic standards, and the district's adopted curricula and K-12 reading plan.
- Use current research, performance data, and feedback from students, teachers, parents, and community to make decisions related to improvement of instruction and student performance.
- Promote the effective use of data analysis with school personnel for all student subgroups and provide coaching to improve student learning and minimize or eliminate achievement gaps.
- Oversee the administration of the testing program for the school.
- Provide for the articulation of the school's instructional program among school personnel.
- Oversee the selection and acquisition of instructional materials and equipment.
- Ensure and monitor the implementation of the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices as described in Rule 6A-5.065, F.A.C., by all instructional personnel.
- Facilitate, coordinate, and monitor the implementation of Exceptional Student Education programs and services.
- Interview and select qualified personnel to be recommended for appointment.
- Supervise assigned personnel, conduct annual performance appraisals, and make recommendations for appropriate employment actions.
- Implement and administer negotiated employee contracts at the school site.
- Develop a school-wide professional learning plan based on the needs of instructional personnel and students, and revise elements of the plan as needed.
- Develop school personnel's professional knowledge and skills by providing access to differentiated, need-based opportunities for growth, guided by understanding of professional and adult learning strategies
- Provide training opportunities and feedback to personnel at the assigned school.
- Assign tasks and supervise personnel in task accomplishment.
- Make difficult personnel decisions when necessary including dealing with ineffective teacher or staff performance.
- Supervise the operation, activities, and functions at the school site.
- Manage and supervise the school's financial resources in a responsible and ethical manner, engaging in effective budgeting, decision making, and accounting practices.
- Manage scheduling and resources by assigning instructional personnel to roles and responsibilities that optimize their professional capacity to address all students' learning needs.
- Organize time, tasks, and projects effectively to protect school personnel's work and learning, as well as their own, to optimize productivity and student learning.
- Utilize data, technology, and communication systems to deliver actionable information to improve the quality and efficiency of operations and management to include safety, climate, and student learning.
- Establish and manage student accounting and attendance procedures at the assigned schools.
- Collaborate with district and school leaders to create and implement policies that address and reduce chronic absenteeism and out-of-school suspensions.
- Write and disseminate newsletters, memos, letters, press releases, agendas, and other materials.
- Coordinate school maintenance and facility needs and monitor progress toward meeting those needs.
- Monitor the custodial program at the school to ensure a clean, healthy, and safe learning environment.
- Supervise transportation services at the assigned school.
- Coordinate the supervision of all extracurricular programs at the assigned school.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with feeder and connecting schools for enrollment management and curricular and instructional articulation.
- Create and maintain systems and structures that promote school security to ensure that students, school personnel, families, and community are safe.
- Ensure compliance with the requirements for school safety, as outlined in Section 1001.54, F.S., Section 1006.09, F.S., and Rule 6A-1.0017, F.A.C.
- Utilize a continuous improvement model to evaluate specific concerns for safety and security within the school environment.
- Establish procedures used in the event of school crisis and / or civil disobedience and provide leadership in the event of such incidents.
- Act quickly to stop possible breaches of safety, ineffective procedures, or interference with operations.
- Maintain high visibility and accessibility, and actively listen and respond to parents, students, and other stakeholders.
- Recognize parents, students, and other stakeholders for contributions and engagement that enhance the school community.
- Utilize appropriate technologies and other forms of communication to partner with parents, students, and families on student expectations and academic performance.
- Facilitate a program of family and community involvement.
- Supervise the guidance program to ensure individual student educational and developmental needs are addressed.
- Work with parents to resolve complaints or concerns.
- Serve as final arbitrator for serious discipline problems.
- Develop and maintain positive school / community relations and act as liaison between the two.
- Direct and develop the recruitment of Business Partners to benefit the school and community.
- Coordinate the school food service program at the assigned school including the free and reduced food service requirements.
- Implement School Board policy, state statutes, and federal regulations as they pertain to the assigned school.
- Model and maintain high standards of professional conduct.
- Set high standards and expectations for self, others, and school.
- Use appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to guide individuals and groups to task accomplishment.
- Use effective communication techniques with students, teachers, parents, and stakeholders.
- Model effective listening and positive interaction skills.
- Participate in District management meetings and other activities to enhance professional development.
- Accept accountability for all students by identifying and recognizing barriers and their impact on the academic success of students and the well-being of the school, families, and local community.
- Act ethically and professionally in personal conduct, relationships with others, decision making, stewardship of the school's resources, and all other aspects of leadership set forth in this rule.
- Provide leadership and direction for all aspects of the school's operation.
- Collaborate with district and school leaders in the alignment of the school vision and mission with district initiatives, State Board of Education priorities, and current educational policies.
- Collaborate with members of the school and community using academic data to develop and promote a vision focused on successful learning and the academic development of all students.
- Build teams to accomplish plans, goals, and priorities.
- Develop and support open, productive, caring, and trusting working relationships among school leaders and other personnel to build professional capacity and improve instructional practice driven by standards-aligned content.
- Promote / market the school and its priorities to the community.
- Facilitate and coordinate the development of the School's Improvement Plan.
- Initiate programs and organize resources to carry out the School Improvement Plan.
- Recognize individuals for contributions toward the school vision and mission.
- Anticipate difficult situations and develop plans to handle them.
- Deal with problems associated with change.
- Work shelter duty if schools open as emergency shelters.
- Develop and maintain routines and procedures that foster a safe, respectful, and student-centered learning environment.
