JOB DESCRIPTION


JOB GOAL:

To provide the visionary leadership necessary to design, develop, and implement a comprehensive program of instructional and support services, which optimize available resources. Ultimately, the aim is to provide successful, high-quality experiences for students in a safe and orderly environment.


QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Master's degree from an accredited educational institution.
2. Certification in Educational Leadership and Level II School Principal.
3. Three (3) years of successful administrative experience.
4. Three (3) years of successful teaching experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to prepare and manage the school's budget and allocated resources. Ability to read, interpret and enforce the State Board Rules, Code of Ethics, School Board policies, and other state and federal laws including best practices to promote the safety, success, and well-being of all students and adults. Ability to ensure compliance with the requirements for school safety as outlined in state laws. Ability to effectively interview, select, coach, and evaluate personnel. Ability to effectively use personnel management and supervisory techniques. Ability to enforce collective bargaining agreements. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to use public speaking skills, interaction skills, and problem-solving skills. Ability to analyze and use data. Knowledge of current educational trends and research. Ability to maintain awareness of the community's cultural, social, and intellectual context and resources. . Ability to manage the student curriculum, instruction, and assessment system. Knowledge and understanding of the unique needs and characteristics of parents, students, and other stakeholders for contributions and engagement that enhance the school community as well as the unique characteristics of the high school environment.

SUPERVISES:

Instructional, Support, Administrative, and Service Personnel assigned to the school


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Student Learning / Continuous School Improvement / Instructional Program Management / Development

1. Manage and administer the instructional program to ensure all students have the opportunity to learn.
2. Create and maintain a school climate and culture of high expectations and enable school personnel to support the academic growth and well-being of all students.
3. Provide leadership and direction for the implementation and to ensure alignment of the school's learning goals and classroom instruction to the state's student academic standards, and the district's adopted curricula and K-12 reading plan.
4. Use current research, performance data, and feedback from students, teachers, parents, and community to make decisions related to improvement of instruction and student performance.
5. Promote the effective use of data analysis with school personnel for all student subgroups and provide coaching to improve student learning and minimize or eliminate achievement gaps.
6. Oversee the administration of the testing program for the school.
7. Provide for the articulation of the school's instructional program among school personnel.
8. Oversee the selection and acquisition of instructional materials and equipment.
9. Ensure and monitor the implementation of the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices as described in Rule 6A-5.065, F.A.C., by all instructional personnel.
10. Facilitate, coordinate, and monitor the implementation of Exceptional Student Education programs and services.

Personnel Action Services / Recruitment / Professional Learning

1. Interview and select qualified personnel to be recommended for appointment.
2. Supervise assigned personnel, conduct annual performance appraisals, and make recommendations for appropriate employment actions.
3. Implement and administer negotiated employee contracts at the school site.
4. Develop a school-wide professional learning plan based on the needs of instructional personnel and students, and revise elements of the plan as needed.
5. Develop school personnel's professional knowledge and skills by providing access to differentiated, need-based opportunities for growth, guided by understanding of professional and adult learning strategies
6. Provide training opportunities and feedback to personnel at the assigned school.
7. Assign tasks and supervise personnel in task accomplishment.
8. Make difficult personnel decisions when necessary including dealing with ineffective teacher or staff performance.

School Operations / Management / Safety

1. Supervise the operation, activities, and functions at the school site.
2. Manage and supervise the school's financial resources in a responsible and ethical manner, engaging in effective budgeting, decision making, and accounting practices.
3. Manage scheduling and resources by assigning instructional personnel to roles and responsibilities that optimize their professional capacity to address all students' learning needs.
4. Organize time, tasks, and projects effectively to protect school personnel's work and learning, as well as their own, to optimize productivity and student learning.
5. Utilize data, technology, and communication systems to deliver actionable information to improve the quality and efficiency of operations and management to include safety, climate, and student learning.
6. Establish and manage student accounting and attendance procedures at the assigned schools.

Supervise and monitor the accurate and timely completion of data collection and reporting requirements.

1. Collaborate with district and school leaders to create and implement policies that address and reduce chronic absenteeism and out-of-school suspensions.
2. Write and disseminate newsletters, memos, letters, press releases, agendas, and other materials.
3. Coordinate school maintenance and facility needs and monitor progress toward meeting those needs.
4. Monitor the custodial program at the school to ensure a clean, healthy, and safe learning environment.
5. Supervise transportation services at the assigned school.
6. Coordinate the supervision of all extracurricular programs at the assigned school.
7. Develop and maintain effective relationships with feeder and connecting schools for enrollment management and curricular and instructional articulation.
8. Create and maintain systems and structures that promote school security to ensure that students, school personnel, families, and community are safe.
9. Ensure compliance with the requirements for school safety, as outlined in Section 1001.54, F.S., Section 1006.09, F.S., and Rule 6A-1.0017, F.A.C.
10. Utilize a continuous improvement model to evaluate specific concerns for safety and security within the school environment.
11. Establish procedures used in the event of school crisis and / or civil disobedience and provide leadership in the event of such incidents.
12. Act quickly to stop possible breaches of safety, ineffective procedures, or interference with operations.

Student Support Services / Meaningful Parent, Family, and Community Engagement Student Support Services

1. Maintain high visibility and accessibility, and actively listen and respond to parents, students, and other stakeholders.
2. Recognize parents, students, and other stakeholders for contributions and engagement that enhance the school community.
3. Utilize appropriate technologies and other forms of communication to partner with parents, students, and families on student expectations and academic performance.
4. Facilitate a program of family and community involvement.
5. Supervise the guidance program to ensure individual student educational and developmental needs are addressed.
6. Work with parents to resolve complaints or concerns.
7. Serve as final arbitrator for serious discipline problems.
8. Develop and maintain positive school / community relations and act as liaison between the two.
9. Direct and develop the recruitment of Business Partners to benefit the school and community.
10. Coordinate the school food service program at the assigned school including the free and reduced food service requirements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects. In an emergency, worker may be required to restrain a physically active individual as a temporary safety precaution.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
