Maintenance Manager – Jacksonville, FL - Seminole The Maintenance Manager is responsible for providing expertise and leadership for mill electrical and mechanical maintenance functions to ensure the reliability of mill assets and systems, maximizing productivity and quality while supporting company policies, goals, and objectives. How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock Supports safety and environmental compliance Manages planning, coordination, and execution of all facility maintenance and reliability activities to optimize equipment availability, safety, and environmental performance. Coordinates and works closely with Mill Leadership Team in preparing and administering the facility maintenance budget, including recommendations, expenditure monitoring, cost estimation, and justification for equipment and improvement projects. Functions as a working team member and provides technical direction to project team members. Serves as an operational resource by providing technical expertise and coordinating outside resources for operational improvements. Ensures all activities comply with mill, company, state, and federal policies concerning safety and work execution. Creates a culture of critical thinking and troubleshooting skills to build continuous improvement in maintenance functions and overall mill operations. Manages facility maintenance reliability programs and plans long‑term improvements. Oversees all preventative maintenance programs: electrical, instrumentation, automation, controls, and mechanical. Plans strategic long‑term maintenance, including infrastructure monitoring and improvements. Maintains awareness of new maintenance trends and incorporates new procedures and training. Implements best practices and processes, including effective planning and scheduling with KPI tracking, technician precision maintenance training, and reliability efforts such as lubrication, vibration, and root cause analysis. Develops succession planning within the maintenance department and career development for personnel. Ensures efficient utilization of workforce and contractors, overseeing long‑term contract agreements. Monitors behaviors to maintain a culture of professionalism, customer satisfaction, employee engagement, respect, and trust. Planners overall coordination for routine and annual maintenance shutdowns. Collaborates with the Engineering Manager on developing, planning, and implementing capital projects. Assists in managing the capital budget. What You Need To Succeed B.S. Engineering or related discipline. 10+ years of experience in heavy industrial or process industries; Pulp & Paper experience preferred. Project management experience is a plus. Experience managing professionals. Effective communication with technical specialists, management, supervision, and technicians. Knowledge of Safety Programs and Trainings, including construction experience in managing capital projects and leading project teams, and experience with managing capital projects outside major discipline with working knowledge of power, pulp, and paper mill processes.
