Registered Nurse - Psychiatric

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provides comprehensive mental health nursing care to psychiatric patients within the scope of practice defined by the Oregon State Board of Nursing. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centered care.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, and cognitive needs to develop individualized care plans.
• Establish nursing diagnoses based on assessments and coordinate treatment strategies with the team.
• Implement and evaluate care interventions including medication administration, wound care, and managing biomedical equipment.
• Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment plans, and health promotion strategies.
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.
• Provide supervision and guidance to unlicensed assistive personnel to ensure quality patient care.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid Oregon Registered Nurse license or be willing to obtain it.
• At least 1 year of inpatient psychiatric nursing experience required.
• Recent hospital experience within the past 5 years.
• Demonstrate critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication skills.
• Proficient in computer use, including electronic medical records documentation.
• Must be willing to obtain BLS and CPI certifications if not already current.
