Shipping Clerk

This role supports a busy contract manufacturing shop by preparing accurate shipping documents, coordinating outgoing orders, and providing administrative support to ensure that customer shipments are completed efficiently and on time. The position combines hands-on shipping activities with office-based tasks, including documentation, data entry, and customer communication.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare shipping documents accurately and in full compliance with company and customer specifications.
• Cross-reference purchase orders with shipping documentation to ensure correct invoicing and complete order fulfillment.
• Collaborate closely with shipping personnel to ensure customer orders are packaged and shipped in a timely and efficient manner.
• Assist with general office tasks, including filing, answering phones, and responding to customer inquiries in a professional manner.
• Contact customers to schedule pickups and coordinate COD payments as required.
• Perform data entry related to shipping activities and maintain accurate, up-to-date shipping records.
• Support overall team operations by performing additional shipping, material handling, and administrative tasks as needed.
• Load and unload materials and finished goods as part of the shipping process, using appropriate material handling practices.

• Experience working in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced setting with changing priorities.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure shipping accuracy and documentation compliance.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a shipping and operations team.
• Willingness to take on additional duties to support overall team operations.

Work Environment:

The position is based in a machine shop environment that supports contract manufacturing activities. You will work around industrial equipment, materials, and finished products, and regularly interact with shipping areas and office space. The work involves physical tasks such as loading, unloading, and material handling, as well as computer-based data entry and documentation. Expect a practical, production-focused setting where safety procedures and attention to detail are essential.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newark, CA.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
