Bookkeeper Position Type: Full-Time / Part-Time Location: Kernersville, NC Reports To: Owner / Accounting Manager About the Company We are a growing small-business bookkeeping firm that provides reliable, accurate, and personalized bookkeeping services to small business owners. We work with clients across a variety of industries and help them stay organized, understand their financials, and make informed business decisions. We are looking for a Bookkeeper who is detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working with multiple small-business clients. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience with QuickBooks Online and enjoys taking ownership of day-to-day bookkeeping responsibilities. Position Overview The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records for a portfolio of small-business clients. This role will involve day-to-day bookkeeping, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and communicating with clients to obtain information and resolve questions. The ideal candidate is organized, deadline-driven, comfortable working independently, and takes pride in producing accurate, clean financials. Key Responsibilities Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for multiple small-business clients. Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations. Categorize and record income and expenses accurately. Enter and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions. Reconcile balance sheet accounts and identify discrepancies. Review financial transactions for accuracy and completeness. Prepare monthly financial statements, including Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports. Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures. Maintain organized and complete financial records and supporting documentation. Communicate with clients regarding missing information, transactions, and bookkeeping questions. Identify unusual transactions or discrepancies and work toward appropriate resolutions. Assist with sales tax, payroll, or other accounting-related tasks as needed. Maintain client confidentiality and protect sensitive financial information. Meet established deadlines and manage priorities across multiple client accounts. Follow the firm’s bookkeeping procedures, standards, and quality-control processes. Qualifications 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred. Hands‑on experience with QuickBooks Online required. Experience managing books for small businesses or multiple clients strongly preferred. Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and financial statements. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable communicating professionally with small-business owners and clients. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. Ability to identify problems, research discrepancies, and find solutions. Preferred Experience Experience working in a bookkeeping, accounting, or CPA firm. QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification. Experience with payroll, sales tax, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Experience working with businesses in multiple industries.
