Facilities Materials Specialist II

General Purpose This position is responsible for performing general business duties for BED which encompasses improving, maintaining, and repairing BED's buildings, grounds, automotive fleet, mail processing. Essential Job Functions Buildings and Grounds * Performs building and ground maintenance, including, painting, lawn care, planting of shrubs, trees, and flowers, shoveling snow, and mowing at Pine Street, Gas Turbine and Winooski One Hydro andSubstations. * Operates forklifts and plows and performs a variety of other labor-intensiveduties. * Perform carpentry repairs on furniture and building structures, including but notlimited to, doors, windows, locks, shelving units, etc. Performs miscellaneous maintenance duties, asnecessary. * Sets up/tears down auditorium and Spark Space for various dailyevents. Mail Processing * Process outgoing mail, including customer billing asnecessary * Operate machines and equipment necessary to carry out the functions of the mailroom including, but not limited to; folding machine, stuffing machine and postage meter,etc. * Handles Daily Payment Processing data, including but not limited to; cash and check payments, etc. that are brought to thebank. * Assists in opening mail and drop boxpayments. * Process dead mail returned by the PostOffice. Stockroom * Perform all duties related to shipping and receiving, including: checking purchase orders; checking materials received to ensure that they are compatible with the purchase order, and that they are in a complete and undamaged state; and generating shipping and receiving reports. * Responsible for conducting weekly and annual inventorycounts. * Responsible in the exchange of rubber protective equipment, as per Section 20 of the BED Accident PreventionManual. * Make inventory labels for incomingmaterial. * Perform duties related to preparing and shipping out items via Fed-x, UPS, andFreight * Responsible for conducting weekly and annual inventorycounts. * Responsible for the exchange of rubber protective equipment, as per Section 20 of the BED Accident PreventionManual. * Makes recommendations to Director of Purchasing and Facilities for items to beinventoried orexpensed. * Disposes of salvage materials in propermanner. * Receives, unloads, and accounts for material purchased and supplied toBED. * Responsible for the loading, unloading, and transport of materials received or charged from stores. * Responsible to see that the warehouses are locked and secure at alltimes. * Controls the distribution of materials from inventory or from the point of receipt to individuals or crews within BED. On occasion during normal working hours, this person will locate any partsnecessary. * Responsible for maintaining clear access to contaminated storage area perVOSHA requirements. * Issues materials to employees. Disposes of salvage materials in propermanner. * Operate Forklift asrequired * Maintain inventory and garage bay areas, including, but not limited to; sweeping, mopping, dusting,etc. * Running parts/supplies out to field personnel asneeded * Responsible person for inventory control across the entiredepartment. Purchasing * Help maintain a certificate of insurance database for vendors doing work atBED. * Assist in maintaining records related to new and existing sources of equipment, materials, services, andsupplies. * Help resolve freight claims forBED. * Assist with purchasing and scheduling delivery of fuel oil and ammonia * Assist with contacting vendors and purchasing materials, processing reorder reports, and coordinating Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and services necessary for BED operations. * Assist in the timely preparation, evaluation, entry, and processing of requests for price quotes, requests for proposals (RFPs), bid openings, purchase requests, purchase orders, and change orders in compliance with City policies, ordinances, and applicable State and Federal regulations. Technical specifications and supporting content for these requests are provided by others. Non-Essential Job Functions: * Performs other duties asrequired. Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements * Ability to actively support City diversity, equity, and cultural competency efforts within stated job responsibilities and work effectively across diverse cultures andconstituencies. * Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion as evidenced by ongoing trainings and professionaldevelopment. * High school diploma, Adult Education orequivalent. * Minimum three (3) years' experience in building maintenance environment and inventory required * Experience operating office machinery preferred. * Working knowledge of personal computers using the internet andOutlook * Must have a certificate in thefollowing: * Word Level1 * Excel Level1 * Inventory & Cycle Counts * Basic Typingskills * Knowledge of materials and equipment associated with an electric utility highlypreferred. * Must be able to lift and carry 50pounds. * Must obtain and maintain a valid Vermont driver's licenserequired. * Ability to operate a fork-lift, plow truck and related tools and equipmentrequired. * Must be tactful, courteous, and able to get along well with co-workers and thepublic. * Must possess good communication skills, be able to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and how to solveproblems. * Ability to work in various weather conditions required. * Regular attendance is necessary and is essential to meeting the expectations of the job functions. * Ability to understand and comply with City standards, safety rules and personnelpolicies. * Ability to work overtime as needed consistent with the provisions of the BED/IBEW Collective BargainingAgreement.
