Job Title: BioFellows Program Fellow Department: Programs and Operations Reports To: Community Manager Classification: Part-Time, Non-Exempt, Temporary Pay Rate: $15 per hour Hours: 10 to 20 hours per week Location: Hybrid Program Overview The BioFellows Program Fellow supports the Programs and Operations Department of the New Orleans BioInnovation Center by assisting with program delivery, event coordination, communications, administrative operations, and investment-related initiatives. Fellows serve as flexible team members who contribute across multiple functional areas to support NOBIC’s mission of advancing life science innovation and entrepreneurship in Louisiana. This role is designed to provide hands‑on exposure to nonprofit operations, startup support, and the life sciences innovation ecosystem while delivering meaningful operational support to the NOBIC team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Programs and Events Supporting outreach and coordination for BioChallenge, NOBIC’s annual global pitch competition held each October Assisting with NOBIC programming, including educational seminars, webinars, tenant programming, community events, and facility rentals Providing on‑site and logistical support for events, including evenings and weekends as needed Communications and Marketing Assisting communications with content creation Supporting social media, and digital communications Helping promote NOBIC programs, events, and initiatives BioFund and Investment Support Evaluating biotechnology investment opportunities across therapeutics, diagnostics, medical devices, and platform technologies Conducting associated due diligence, including analysis of clinical data, regulatory pathways, intellectual property, and pipelines Assisting with financial modeling, valuations, and market analysis Tracking industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscapes within biotechnology and life sciences Required Qualifications Demonstrated interest in biotechnology innovation, life sciences, startups, entrepreneurship, venture capital, communications, or economic development Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly with diverse audiences High attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when handling data, schedules, event logistics, or written materials Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a small, cross‑functional team Professional judgment and discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Docs, Sheets, and shared drives Willingness and ability to work evenings or weekends for special events as needed Reliable availability for the duration of the fellowship term A strong interest in biotechnology innovation, entrepreneurship, startups, communications, or venture capital Excellent organizational and project management skills Preferred Qualifications Coursework or experience in life sciences, healthcare, business, finance, communications, or public policy Experience supporting events, programs, or community initiatives Familiarity with startups, incubators, accelerators, or venture capital environments Comfort working with data, research, or basic financial analysis Experience using project management or collaboration tools This position is a term‑based fellowship aligned with academic semesters. Pending mutual interest and organizational needs, fellows may be eligible for extended or additional fellowship terms. Completion of the fellowship does not guarantee future employment.
