Maintenance Technician III

Maintenance Partner As a Maintenance Partner, you'll function in a team environment, reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader with direct responsibilities to the Production Team Leader and Team. You'll provide technical support to ensure a safe environment, producing safe, high-quality product, in a timely manner, at the best cost possible. Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions: Maintains manufacturing processes and equipment in optimum condition; integrates several process techniques focused on achieving high levels of overall process effectiveness (TPO) Applies fundamental understanding of team in development and active participation in a team environment through Division and Plant team orientation, and safety and quality training, and Level I Team skills Operates the following equipment: ELECTRICAL: Operates meters and testing equipment, programmers, and soldering tools (e.g., AC, single and 3 phase from 24V to 480V and DC systems); operates new equipment (e.g., motors, starters, relays, timers switches, coils, transformers, switch gear) ELECTRONICS: Operates computers (desktop programs) and appropriate tools; adjusts set points and machine controls (e.g., digital volt ohmmeter, handheld amp probe and held voltage tester, logic probes, CRT equipment) MECHANICAL: Operates shop equipment (e.g., grinders, drills, saws, threaders, lathe, mill); starts up processing equipment, building equipment, and refrigeration systems PNEUMATIC: Operates pressure gauge (Bourden tube type) WELDING: Operates welding equipment (e.g., soldering, brazing, wiping, hand forging, gas welding, flame cutting, arc welding, resistance welding, pressurized system, stainless steel welding, sanitary welding, including TIG or oxyacetylene) Repair & Replacement: BUILDING SYSTEMS: Repairs plant equipment ELECTRICAL: Replaces boards, relays, and input-output modules; calculates proper wire sizes and material ELECTRONICS: Replaces PC boards, relays, and input-output modules; burns chips and program systems HYDRAULIC: Replaces cylinders, valves, and pumps; performs preventative maintenance (e.g., 4-way / Vickers valves); repairs motor MECHANICS: Repairs / modifies / replaces parts on all production and facility equipment; calculates speed ration, sprocket sizes, and gear box size when modifying / replacing / repairing gear box assembly PNEUMATIC: Maintains/ replaces / repairs all pneumatic equipment REFRIGERATION / HVAC: Maintains / repairs freon, glycol, and ammonia refrigeration systems WELDING: Plans / organizes / performs all types of welding (gas, arc, Heliarc) to weld various beads, but lap, fillet, and sanitary tubing; welds pressure vessels Inspection: ELECTRICAL: Determines if systems are functioning properly; investigates problems; ensures compliance with federal and local electrical codes HYDRAULIC: Monitors fluids / pressures; adjusts when needed PNEUMATIC: Monitors fluids / pressures; adjusts when needed REFRIGERATION / HVAC: Monitors system pressures and temperatures; compares to standards; inspects systems for leaks; monitors fluid levels including glycol levels proper ratios Safety / Compliance: Performs preventative maintenance Troubleshooting: BUILDING SYSTEMS: Troubleshoots chilled water, steam distribution, and glycol systems ELECTRICAL: Troubleshoots all systems with / without schematics and photoelectric sensing equipment ELECTRONICS: Controls power or programming fault, Modicon / Allen-Bradley PLCs, and PID control devices HYDRAULIC: Troubleshoots circuit problems; isolates defective hardware MECHANICS: Troubleshoots all production and facility equipment PNEUMATIC: Troubleshoots circuit problems; isolates defective hardware REFRIGERATION / HVAC: Troubleshoots refrigeration systems (e.g., ammonia, glycol, freon); isolates problems Reads blueprints (mechanics, welding) Reads blueprints and schematic diagrams (electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic) Reads blueprints, schematics, and refrigeration and steam documentation (refrigeration / HVAC) Draws / designs basic system schematics (electrical) Designs mechanical and electrical programs and systems on AutoCad (electronics) Designs blueprints to repair / modify / construct / make process changes (mechanics) Designs new / modifies existing plant systems to supply new / modified equipment (building systems) The responsibilities and essential functions outlined above describe the general nature and level of work assigned to this position. Qualifications & Key Requirements: Work Experience: Experience in maintenance - Required Experience in electrical / mechanical / equipment (for building & process) repair - Required Experience completely disassembling process equipment and repairing, improving, and reassembling for re-use - Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to interrelate with others, using technical knowledge, when working with Technical and Part Support Specialists on plant equipment to make repairs or improvements - Required Ability to train and guide other Mechanics - Required Dependability; reliability - Required Specific to assigned functional area: - Required Qualifications: BUILDING SYSTEMS Comprehensive understanding of building systems (e.g., steam distribution, chilled water, compressed air glycol systems) ELECTRICAL Knowledge of federal and local electrical codes Understanding of differences between good and bad Meg out motor Understanding of how to install a 240V 3 phase system ELECTRONICS Knowledge of replacement of PC boards, relays, and input-output modules Knowledge of design, programming, and implementation of control systems Knowledge of how to design systems (mechanical and electrical) on Autocad Ability to demonstrate proper use of appropriate tools (e.g., digital volt ohmmeter, handheld amp probe, voltage tester, logic probes, CRT equipment) HYDRAULIC Comprehensive working knowledge of hydraulic systems throughout production and the facility Knowledge of reading and interpreting hydraulic blueprints and schematics to repair / modify the system Understanding of electrical circuit on main hydraulic system for pie press MECHANICS Comprehensive working knowledge of all laws, theories, rules, and standards related to plant mechanical troubleshooting and construction Knowledge of calculating speed ration, sprocket sizes, and gar box size PNEUMATIC Comprehensive working knowledge of pneumatic systems throughout production and the facility Knowledge of how to read pneumatic circuit diagram and understand function of system Working understanding of the function of pressure gauge (Bourden tube type) REFRIGERATION / HVAC Comprehensive working knowledge of plant refrigeration and steam systems Knowledge of how to maintain and repair all facets of plan freon, glycol, and ammonia systems Understanding of all laws, theories, rules, and standards related to refrigeration / HVAC systems WELDING Ability to read / understand blueprints, schematics, and similar documents to isolate defective hardware Ability to Heliarc weld Education: HS Diploma or GED - Required Licenses/Certifications: Current refrigeration license - Required Physical Demands & Working Conditions: Travel by car or plane with overnight stays Regularly lift up to 20 lbs Occasionally lift 20 lbs or more Work extended hours Work rotating schedules Maneuver through the facility and perform functions of the job, with or without accommodation (standing, stooping, bending, etc.) Work in wet, cold, or hot environments, depending on Plant location, where temperatures are: Snacks: temperature-controlled environment ranging from 80-100 degrees F Floral: temperature-controlled environment ranging from 32-42 degrees F Meat
