2027 Future Talent Program - Protein and Structural Chemistry - Co-op

A 6-month co-op in structural chemistry at Merck's Boston laboratory, supporting structure-based drug discovery. Candidates will gain hands-on experience with X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM, and structural biology workflows while contributing to early discovery through late-stage development projects.
Responsibilities
- Conduct protein crystallization screening and cryo-EM sample preparation
- Perform diffraction or imaging data collection and processing
- Determine structures and build molecular models using visualization software
- Collaborate with structural biologists, chemists, and biophysicists to guide drug design
- Maintain electronic laboratory records and follow safety and compliance requirements
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in graduate program in Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, or related discipline
- Available for full-time work for six consecutive months beginning in 2027
- Willing to relocate to Boston area for on-site laboratory work
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in collaborative, team-oriented environment
- Experience with X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM, protein biochemistry, crystallization, or structural data processing
