Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Registered Nurse (RN) for a dynamic position that requires floating to various units within the healthcare facility. The RN will be expected to provide high-quality care across Patient Care Units (PCU), Telemetry Units, and other areas as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Float to multiple units, including PCU, Observation, Overflow, Medical, and Surgical floors.
• Assess and provide care for patients with a range of conditions such as stroke, chest pain, arrhythmias, abdominal pain, postoperative care, and respiratory failure.
• Administer and titrate medications, including Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Heparin drips.
• Read and interpret EKG strips; perform EKG's as required.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintain awareness of available resources and equipment, including CPAP and high-flow oxygen systems.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of nursing experience in acute care, with proficiency in neuro assessments and basic cardiac drip management.
• Current certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Experience with EPIC or similar electronic health record systems.
• Ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to various hospital environments.
• Prior travel nursing experience is preferred.

Patient Care Environment

The nurse-to-patient ratios are as follows:

• PCU, Overflow, and Observation: 1:4
• Medical and Surgical: 1:5 (may occasionally extend to 1:6)

Some units may have nurse aides or patient care techs available to assist with care, with a typical ratio of 1:8-11, dependent on the unit.

Scheduling and Orientation

Shifts will require clocking in by 0653 and clocking out by 0723. The scheduling will be handled by administrative staff based on hospital needs, and there is an opportunity for overtime. Weekend shifts are required, with a minimum of four weekend shifts expected within a six-week period. Orientation will consist of three shifts across different units in addition to general facility orientation.

Additional Information

Scrubs should be navy in color. A cancellation policy is in place, allowing for limited shifts to be canceled by the facility without penalty. Flexibility in work assignments is essential, as the nurse may float between different units, potentially working in a different unit each shift.
