Job Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance Technician – Level 4 performs intermediate-level troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and process utility systems with limited supervision, independently executing standard maintenance activities and resolving routine equipment and utility faults. This role executes preventive and corrective maintenance with limited supervision and responds to equipment and utility faults to minimize downtime. The technician interprets technical documentation, supports system diagnostics, and implements standardized maintenance procedures. Additionally, the position contributes to continuous improvement initiatives and ensures compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties:

Functional Operations:

  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment within the functional area

  • Perform routine and intermediate rounds on mechanical, electrical, and utility systems, independently identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving standard issues with limited supervision

  • Conduct defined troubleshooting and repair on facilities and production support equipment

  • Act as a First Responder to diagnose and resolve routine operational and utility issues, escalating complex incidents as needed

  • Assess utility outages (e.g., compressed air, HVAC, nitrogen, process water) and implement corrective actions

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, equipment manuals, and work orders to identify faults and execute repairs

  • Follow and contribute to the development and improvement of Maintenance Operating Procedures (MOPs) and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs)

  • Use hand tools and diagnostic equipment to measure system parameters (e.g., pressure, temperature, humidity, airflow, ampacity, particulates) across utilities and process systems

  • Escalate complex, non-standard, or system-wide issues to senior technicians while providing relevant diagnostic information

Performance Optimization & Continuous Improvement:

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records including equipment logs, work orders, and CMMS documentation

  • Utilize CMMS to track labor hours, equipment history, and maintenance activities

  • Identify equipment performance issues and support root cause identification and reliability improvements

  • Detect faulty operations and defective materials; escalate abnormal conditions

Training & Team Support:

  • Provide peer guidance and support to Level 3 technicians, sharing knowledge and reinforcing standard procedures

  • Share technical knowledge and support team skill development

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication:

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Construction, Production, and other teams to resolve routine maintenance issues and support facility operations

  • Interface with cross-functional teams to support facility operations and projects

  • Communicate equipment status, risks, and maintenance activities

Quality, Safety, & Compliance:

  • Support implementation of processes and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications

  • Follow all safety regulations, including NFPA70E and PPE requirements

  • Identify and report unsafe conditions, faulty operations, and non-conforming materials

  • Maintain 6S standards and ensure a clean, organized work environment

  • Work all scheduled shifts

Education, Certifications, and Licenses:

Required :

  • High school diploma, GED, or 2 years of prior experience in functional area

Preferred :

  • Trade school or vocational training in a technical field

  • Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, or related discipline

  • Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) License

  • Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) Certification

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • CPR/First Aid Certification

  • NFPA70E Qualified Electrical Worker (or equivalent electrical safety certification)

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30

  • HAZWOPER 8 or 40

Essential Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in industrial maintenance or facilities operations

  • Demonstrate intermediate knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic, and/or HVAC systems, including the ability to independently monitor system performance and resolve common fault conditions

  • Apply working knowledge of industrial utility systems (e.g., compressed air, vacuum, nitrogen, DI water, process cooling water, dust collection), including the ability to monitor system performance and identify common fault conditions

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment with limited supervision, resolving standard system failures and escalating complex or non-routine issues

  • Use CMMS to create, update, and close work orders while accurately tracking labor hours, equipment history, and maintenance activities

  • Use diagnostic instruments (e.g., multimeters, pressure gauges, airflow meters) to collect data, interpret results, and validate system performance for standard operating conditions

  • Apply foundational knowledge across multiple trades (e.g., electrical, pipefitting, plumbing, boiler systems) to support cross-functional maintenance activities

  • Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) to document work, communicate updates, and track basic data

  • Communicate effectively and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve equipment issues and escalate risks as needed

  • Demonstrate initiative, adaptability, and problem-solving skills

  • Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English

  • Alignment to Panasonic’s seven (7) core principles (contribution to society, fairness and honesty, cooperation and team spirit, untiring effort for improvement, courtesy and humility, adaptability, gratitude)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of progressively responsible experience in industrial maintenance or facilities operations, including independent troubleshooting and repair of complex equipment and systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment (automotive or battery preferred)

  • Demonstrate strong proficiency in at least one technical discipline (e.g., HVAC, electrical, mechanical systems), including the ability to support troubleshooting of more complex issues alongside senior technicians

  • Use Building Management Systems (BMS) or similar control systems to monitor system performance, respond to alarms, and adjust operating parameters

  • Apply knowledge of OSHA regulations, NFPA standards, and industrial safety practices to identify risks and support safe work execution

  • Use CMMS platforms to review equipment history, identify recurring issues, and support maintenance planning and reliability improvements

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:

  • To ensure health and safety in the workplace and for employee protection, wearing PPE is required and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator. A respirator fit test will be required based on functional area.

Required Lifting and Carrying: Rare (<1%), Occasional (1-33%), Frequent (34-66%), Continuous (67-100%)

  • Up to 35 lbs.: Frequent

  • Team-lift only (over 35 lbs.): Frequent
