Director of IT, Clinical Engineering Location: Denver Metro Area. The Director of IT, Clinical Engineering is a strategic and operational leader responsible for comprehensive management and oversight of regional hospitals' clinical engineering services. The role ensures safe, effective, efficient use of medical equipment and technology across all clinical areas. The Director will lead a team of biomedical engineers, technicians and other support staff, providing equipment maintenance, repair, calibration, safety testing, technology assessment, integration, cybersecurity, acquisition support and user training. The Director collaborates closely with clinical staff, IT, facilities and other departments to optimize lifecycle management of medical devices and contribute to high-quality patient care. Position is onsite; does not offer hybrid or remote option. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Vision Develop and implement a comprehensive clinical engineering strategy that aligns with the healthcare system's clinical, operational, and financial goals. Anticipate future medical technology trends and their impact on the organization, proactively planning for technology adoption and integration. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor and evaluate the performance of the clinical engineering department. Equipment Lifecycle Management Oversee acquisition, installation, maintenance, repair, calibration, and disposal of medical equipment. Develop and manage capital equipment planning in collaboration with clinical and financial stakeholders. Lead evaluation and selection of new medical equipment and technologies, ensuring alignment with clinical needs, budget constraints, and objectives. Technology Assessment & Integration Lead evaluation of new and emerging medical technologies, providing recommendations on adoption and integration. Collaborate with other IT teams and departments to ensure seamless integration of medical devices with organizational information systems. Participate in development and implementation of clinical technology training programs for staff. Team Leadership & Development Provide leadership and direction to the clinical engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Establish clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations. Promote professional development and training opportunities for team members. Budget Management Develop and manage the clinical engineering department's budget, ensuring cost-efficient operations. Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication Build and maintain strong relationships with clinical staff, physicians, nurses, IT professionals, facilities management, and other stakeholders. Communicate effectively across all levels regarding clinical engineering activities, challenges, and initiatives. Education and Certifications Bachelor's degree 8 years of relevant experience; 3 years of leadership experience Familiarity with healthcare IT systems and integration of medical devices Demonstrated expertise in medical equipment maintenance, repair, safety, and regulatory compliance Strong knowledge of medical device technology, standards, and regulations Proven track record in managing and leading a high-performing technical team Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills to interact with clinical and technical personnel Experience with capital equipment planning and procurement processes Certified Clinical Engineer (CCE) or Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) certification preferred Skills and Traits Strategic Thinking Technical Expertise Leadership & Team Development Regulatory Compliance Problem-Solving & Analysis Communication (Written & Verbal) Interpersonal Skills Project Management Financial Management Customer Focus Pay $69.65 - $111.44 per hour, dependent on relevant experience.
