The Feed Mill Customer Service Representative provides responsive, accurate, and professional service to customers while supporting the daily administrative and order-processing needs of the Feed Division. This position receives and processes feed orders, prepares accurate documentation and invoices, assists with dispatch and inventory activities, and provides basic feed and animal nutrition support within the employee's level of knowledge. The role works closely with customers and internal teams to help ensure feed orders are manufactured, documented, and delivered accurately and efficiently.

Essential Functions:

• Answer incoming telephone calls promptly and professionally and assist customers with questions, orders, and service needs.
• Greet and assist walk-in customers in a courteous, welcoming, and solutions-focused manner.
• Provide basic feed and animal nutrition information to help customers make informed purchasing decisions, escalating technical questions when appropriate.
• Build positive working relationships with customers and coworkers and contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
• Prepare accurate customer invoices and ensure applicable feed tags and supporting documentation accompany each invoice.
• Review and maintain Plant Shipping Reports (PSRs) to support complete and accurate product traceability.
• Complete required documentation and system entries necessary for the accurate manufacture and sale of feed.
• Prepare preliminary order sheets, sacking order sheets, bulk feed order sheets, and scale tickets, verifying feed codes, dates, molasses rates, medicated/non-medicated status, and VFD requirements as applicable.
• Enter and update operational data and spreadsheets throughout the workday with a high level of accuracy.
• Assist with maintaining accurate and current bagged-feed inventory records.
• Support dispatch activities by communicating order information and coordinating with appropriate team members.
• Prepare and process bagged-feed orders and assist with bulk-feed orders as needed.
• Receive, document, and process bagged and bulk feed orders submitted by walk-in customers, telephone, or email.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support Feed Division operations.

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, or a related field preferred.

Experience:

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and general office procedures required.
• Previous customer service experience preferred.
• Agriculture, feed industry, and/or basic animal nutrition experience or knowledge preferred.
• Generally, requires one to three years of related customer service, office, agriculture, or feed-industry experience.

Knowledge:

• Working knowledge of customer service practices and general office procedures.
• Knowledge of the agricultural and feed industries preferred.
• Basic knowledge of animal nutrition and feed products preferred.
• Ability to learn and follow feed-order documentation, traceability, inventory, VFD, and related operational procedures.

Skills:

• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong basic math skills and attention to numerical accuracy.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn job-specific software and systems.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to accurately enter, maintain, sort, file, and distribute records and documentation.
• Ability to work effectively with customers, coworkers, managers, dispatch, and other internal departments.

• Communicates effectively with managers, customers, and coworkers to resolve routine issues and support efficient operations.

Additional Information:

• Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear.
• Must be able to sit and/or stand for periods of up to four hours at a time.
• Occasionally required to climb stairs, balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must occasionally lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds.
