We are looking for a skilled Paralegal to support municipal legal operations in Fort Pierce, Florida. This Long-term Contract position offers the opportunity to work in a high-volume legal setting, partnering closely with the City Attorney and Assistant City Attorneys on document preparation, case coordination, and legal research. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational judgment, professionalism in communications, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines with limited supervision.

Responsibilities:
• Conduct legal and subject-matter research to support attorneys in case development, hearings, and day-to-day legal matters.
• Prepare and organize pleadings, forms, exhibits, and supporting materials for filings, hearings, and trial-related activities.
• Draft routine legal documents and written correspondence for attorney review prior to submission or distribution.
• Maintain accurate case records and monitor litigation calendars, including key filing dates and procedural deadlines.
• Receive, log, and coordinate requests for legal assistance while ensuring timely follow-up and status tracking.
• Submit and record documents through court and agency filing systems, including electronic filing where required.
• Communicate effectively with city departments, court staff, outside service providers, and members of the public to gather or provide information.
• Coordinate attorney calendars by arranging meetings, hearings, depositions, and appointments, while keeping legal staff informed of schedule changes.
• Handle administrative support tasks such as scanning, copying, document organization, invoice processing, and arranging court reporters or process servers.
• Review completed materials for accuracy, completeness, and proper formatting before filing or distribution.• At least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in a legal office environment, with emphasis on legal research, document preparation, and pleadings support.
• Background in civil litigation, discovery, trial preparation, and prehearing coordination.
• Demonstrated ability to draft legal documents and detail-focused correspondence with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Experience using case management systems and electronic filing platforms for courts or administrative agencies.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work, manage deadlines, and support multiple matters simultaneously.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to interact tactfully with attorneys, court personnel, public officials, and the public.
• Associate degree preferred; paralegal certification such as Florida Registered Paralegal, Certified Paralegal, Certified Legal Assistant, or similar credential is preferred.
• Significant relevant legal experience may be considered in place of preferred education or certification credentials.
