Job Overview The College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Cincinnati is seeking an experienced, motivated, and student-focused Senior Admissions Counselor to join our Office of Recruitment & Enrollment. In this role, you will guide prospective students as they explore the opportunities within the College of Arts and Sciences, supporting them through the college search and application process. You will represent the college at high school visits, college fairs, community outreach programs, and on‑campus events. You will be responsible for recruitment territories, coordinating specialized programmatic areas, supporting cross‑functional recruitment initiatives, and serving as a peer leader and mentor for other recruiters. Essential Functions Serve as a senior representative of the College of Arts and Sciences, ensuring enrollment goals are met while maintaining fiscal responsibility. Act as a primary resource for prospective students, families, counselors, and community partners interested in A&S programs and develop and implement initiatives that showcase the breadth and value of an Arts and Sciences education. Manage assigned geographic and/or programmatic recruitment territories for the College of Arts and Sciences and maintain strong relationships with schools, counselors, community‑based organizations, community colleges, and other partners. Travel extensively during key time periods (8–12 weeks in the fall and 3–6 weeks in the spring) and work evenings, weekends, and non‑traditional hours as needed. Maintain and utilize information about prospective students to advise, encourage, and support students from first inquiry through application, admission, and enrollment in A&S. Support strategic enrollment priorities with particular emphasis on expanding college access and representation among various student populations. Implement and clearly explain admissions policies and procedures, ensuring students and families understand the pathway to Arts and Sciences programs. Coordinate specialized programmatic areas that advance A&S recruitment goals, such as campus events, student ambassador/tour guide programs, outreach and access initiatives, communications and marketing, transfer recruitment, or community partnerships. Oversee special projects and cross‑functional initiatives as assigned, including collaboration with college units, Central Admissions, regional campuses, strategic initiatives teams, and other campus partners. Serve as a peer leader and mentor for admissions counsel and other recruitment team members; assist with onboarding, training, sharing best practices, and supporting consistent recruitment practices across the team. Evaluate applications for admission to the College of Arts and Sciences and make holistic, well‑informed decisions that align with enrollment goals and uphold university standards of fairness and accuracy. Use a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to track interactions, maintain records, and prepare reports; assist in analyzing data to inform future recruitment planning and strategy. Perform related duties based on departmental need; this job description can be changed at any time. Required Education Bachelor’s Degree Required Trainings/Certifications Valid driver’s license with an acceptable record. Some positions may require a valid passport. Required Experience Three (3) years of relevant experience. Additional Qualifications Considered Three (3) years of relevant college admissions and recruitment experience. Experience with Slate or other CRM software. Past tour guide or admissions student worker experience. Comfortability with public speaking to both small and large groups. Desire to use data to help manage a recruitment strategy. Physical Requirements / Work Environment Office environment / no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
