Job Description

This role focuses on assembling, soldering, and testing electronic circuit boards to meet strict quality and production standards. You will work with automated manufacturing equipment, follow detailed technical instructions, and use inspection tools to ensure that all electronic assemblies meet required specifications.

Responsibilities

• Assemble electronic components and circuit boards according to technical instructions and production documentation.

• Perform soldering on circuit boards and electronic assemblies, following established standards to ensure high-quality connections.

• Operate automated machines used to manufacture flexible circuitry and monitor their performance during production runs.

• Use Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) equipment to inspect products coming off the machines and identify defects or irregularities.

• Utilize a microscope to perform touch-up and rework on defects found during inspection, ensuring all boards meet quality standards.

• Conduct visual and microscopic inspection of parts, solder joints, wiring, and harnesses to verify compliance with inspection criteria.

• Follow IPC and J-Standard guidelines during soldering, assembly, and inspection processes after receiving training and certification.

• Handle surface-mount technology (SMT) components and printed circuit boards (PCBs) with care to prevent damage and maintain product integrity.

• Maintain accurate records of inspections, rework, and production activities as required by internal procedures.

• Work safely and neatly in an electronic assembly environment, keeping workstations organized and equipment properly used and maintained.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience with microscope use for detailed inspection and rework of electronic assemblies.

• Proven experience performing soldering on electronic components and circuit boards.

• Ability to follow technical instructions and production documentation with precision and attention to detail.

• Strong understanding of basic electronic components, wiring, and circuit board layouts.

• Capability to operate automated machines involved in the manufacture of flexible circuitry.

• Competence in using Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) equipment to assess product quality.

• Comfort working with surface-mount technology (SMT) and printed circuit boards (PCBs).

• Ability to inspect and verify soldering quality, wiring, and harness assemblies against defined standards.

• Willingness to complete training and certification in J-Standard and IPC requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Familiarity with IPC standards for electronic assembly and inspection.

• Exposure to wiring and cable harness assembly in an electronic manufacturing environment.

• Experience with soldering assembly work in a production setting.

• Ability to work efficiently in a climate-controlled, electronics-focused facility.

• Strong manual dexterity and steady hand for fine soldering and microscopic rework.

• Good communication skills to report defects, issues, and process improvements to the team.

• Basic understanding of electrical assembly processes and quality control practices.

Work Environment

The role is based in a climate-controlled electronic manufacturing facility focused on circuit board and flexible circuitry production. You will work at a workstation equipped with automated manufacturing machines, AOI systems, and microscopes for detailed inspection and rework. The environment is clean and organized, with an emphasis on safety, precision, and adherence to industry standards such as IPC and J-Standard. Work typically involves standing or sitting at benches, handling small electronic components and SMT parts, and using soldering equipment and inspection tools throughout the shift.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lakeville, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
