Job Description

As a Construction Laborer, you will assist with commercial remodeling projects from demolition through final finish work. You'll help build, renovate, and improve medical and office facilities by performing a variety of construction and carpentry tasks while working alongside experienced tradespeople.

Certain projects may qualify for prevailing wage rates, creating opportunities for significantly increased earnings depending on project requirements.

What You'll Do

• Perform demolition and teardown work in commercial buildings

• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction drawings

• Measure, cut, and assemble framing for walls, doors, windows, and partitions

• Install drywall, ceilings, flooring, cabinetry, trim, and finish carpentry components

• Retrofit and install doors, frames, and related hardware

• Safely operate hand tools and power tools, including saws, drills, nail guns, and measuring equipment

• Assist with concrete work and other general construction tasks

• Coordinate with electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and other trades

• Inspect and repair existing building components as needed

• Follow building codes, project specifications, and company standards

• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months of construction experience

• Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure

• Experience with demolition, material handling, and general labor

• Basic carpentry and framing experience

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans

• Experience using common hand tools and power tools

• Understanding of construction safety practices

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team

• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications

• Approximately 1 year of carpentry experience

• Commercial construction experience

• Experience with framing and structural carpentry

• Drywall installation, taping, and mudding experience

• Finish carpentry skills, including trim, cabinetry, doors, and windows

• Concrete and masonry experience

• Strong attention to detail and quality craftsmanship

• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic

This position is based entirely on commercial construction sites throughout Rochester, primarily within medical facilities and office buildings undergoing renovations and remodeling.

Work includes demolition, framing, drywall installation, door retrofits, finish carpentry, and general construction tasks. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rochester, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $62.00/hr.
