Job Summary

JOB TITLE: Custodian


REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor

ANNUAL CALENDAR DAYS: 12 months, 243 days, 8 hours/day

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be able to follow oral and written directions.

Must have the capacity to grasp and adjust to new and changing situations.

Must be neat in appearance and follow dress code.

Must have the ability to work independently and plan work.

Good physical condition, ability to lift fifty (50) pounds.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Complete the cleaning schedule for the areas assigned, within the frequency requirements.

Keep the building and premises, including sidewalks and parking areas, neat and clean.

Vacuum daily and dust furniture.

Clean building entry corridors each day, and during the day when conditions require it.

Scrub and disinfect restrooms, floors , fixtures daily.

Clean water fountain(s) daily.

Clean kitchen area daily.

Wash exterior and interior windows as directed.

Keep the grounds free from rubbish.

Keep all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation.

Report on major repairs needed.

Empty wastebaskets; collects, stores, and disposes of refuse.

Moves furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities and as directed.

Report illegal acts such as damaged property, theft and vandalism.

Know and have a basic understanding of the chemicals and processes used in the cleaning schedule.

Maintain a positive public relations attitude with all staff.

Routinely inspect the building for safety hazards and report to the principal.

Conduct such maintenance functions which are assigned within the knowledge and skill level as determined by the principal.

Order, receive, and maintain inventory of custodial supplies.

Ability to withstand frequent walking, standing, stooping, and lifting.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND SALARY

Employment is for 12 months, 243 days, 8 hours per day. Salary to be determined, and to commensurate with the salary matrix, credentials, and experience.
