Prestonsburg, Kentucky Gastroenterologist Locum Tenens Opportunity General GI procedures • Advanced procedures • Complex patient population Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking a board-certified or board-eligible gastroenterologist for a 12-month locum tenens assignment supporting a community hospital in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. This role involves performing general GI procedures including upper endoscopies, colonoscopies, and advanced ERCP interventions within a busy outpatient setting. Providers will manage a complex patient population often presenting with non-compliance and significant clinical needs, emphasizing strong relationship-building and communication skills. Opportunity Highlights Location: Prestonsburg, Kentucky Assignment Type: Locum Tenens, 12 months Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Support Staff: APP support available EMR: Meditech Patient Population: Non-compliant, complex, often with family support Clinical Scope Perform upper endoscopies (EGD) and colonoscopies Conduct ERCP procedures (moderate complexity) Biopsies of esophagus, stomach, small bowel, and colon Esophageal, duodenal, or luminal stent placement Argon plasma coagulation and esophageal dilation Foreign body removal via EGD Sigmoidoscopy and GI motility studies Non-variceal hemostasis (upper and lower) Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) placement Requirements Active Kentucky medical license Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology Must be able to respond offsite within 30 minutes for emergencies and within 12 hours for routine calls Must have MD or DO degree and DEA registration Why Physicians Move on This 12-month assignment supporting a community hospital General and advanced GI procedures in a busy outpatient setting Offsite call response within 30 minutes for emergencies Supportive APP team and Meditech EMR Complex patient population emphasizing relationship skills Rhino Medical is leading the charge.
