MWL Operations Specialist I

Overview Review and process incoming client requests for commercial lending facilities in accordance with Mortgage Warehouse Lending (MWL) client facility agreements, documented procedures and investor guidelines. Maintain security and integrity of client accounts by following established departmental guidelines to minimize loss while consistently providing superior client service to internal and external clients. Responsibilities Provide exceptional service as primary point of contact for assigned Mortgage Warehouse Lending clients to influence revenue and make Truist the preferred lender. Manage high‑monitoring commercial relationships with the highest commitment level in the bank. Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries, identify and resolve client needs and ensure positive client interactions. Communicate effectively with teammates at all levels regarding client activity and status. Adhere to documented policies and procedures and evaluate transactions to ensure risk tolerance is maintained. Act as the first line of defense for risk management by proactively identifying potential risks and escalating to management. Process client funding requests to initiate wires for residential loan closings and apply investor payments according to purchase advices and required documentation. Track receipt and review of collateral to process client requests for shipping original notes to investors. Ensure transaction accuracy by analyzing received documentation and uploaded data in the tracking system. Research and resolve discrepancies to keep the client pipeline accurate and provide daily reconciliation reports to clients. Perform settlements for syndicated clients by processing advances and payments. Request wires and apply funds received from participating lenders. Monitor client account activity to reconcile records across the data tracking system, bank DDA system, and General Ledger. Ensure proper disposition and resolution of funds received in error. Assume progressive responsibilities such as verifying team balance sheets, reviewing operational procedures, assisting with projects, and participating in quality‑control testing of new data‑system applications, upgrades, and changes. Qualifications Required: 1+ year(s) of banking and/or client service experience. Excellent verbal and written communication with all levels of internal and external clients. Ability to perform work according to specific procedures and challenge process effectiveness for improvement. Ability to maintain composure and flexibility during high volume, high pressure situations. Ability to work effectively both in a team environment and independently. Analytical skills to determine root cause of errors, apply critical thinking for resolution, and make independent decisions. Detail‑oriented with the ability to meet short deadlines and possess basic mathematical aptitude. Excellent time‑management, organizational, and multi‑tasking skills. Proficiency in basic Microsoft Office applications. Preferred: Knowledge or background in warehouse lending, commercial lending, residential loan documents, mortgage loan terms, investor requirements, and/or accounting. Working Conditions Standing: Frequently (25%‑50% of the time). Walking: Occasionally (less than 25% of the time). Bending: Occasionally (less than 25% of the time). Lifting: Up to 25 lbs. Visual, audio, and speaking: Ability to access and interpret client information on the computer and communicate in person and by phone. Manual dexterity/keyboarding: Use of standard office equipment (PC keyboard, mouse, copy/fax machines, printers). Availability: Work all scheduled hours, including overtime and other business needs. Travel: Minimal and up to 10%.
