General Accountant

Pay: $70,000 to $85,000 Annually DOE ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a skilled and dependable General Accountant to support the finance department of a well-established organization in the Anchorage area. This role handles a broad range of accounting and administrative responsibilities including financial statement preparation, account reconciliation, financial data analysis, cash handling, and daily bank deposits. This is a full-time, in-office position at the Anchorage headquarters, ideal for an accounting professional who takes ownership of their work, communicates effectively across departments, and thrives in a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. WHAT YOU'LL DO Own the accounts payable function including invoice processing and timely resolution of discrepancies Oversee the purchase order system and manage inventory accounts Perform accounts payable, credit card, and inventory reconciliations Process and manage cash and check deposits Analyze financial data and trends to identify variances, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement Assist with preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections Support external audits by providing documentation and explanations as needed Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency and accuracy Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulations Serve as a point of contact for visitors and vendors Process and route incoming and outgoing mail Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA preferred Minimum 3 years of experience in an accounting role Proficiency in Microsoft 365 with strong emphasis on Excel, including formulas, workbooks, and pivot tables Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions including data entry and journal entries Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policy and procedure manuals and technical documentation Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information to managers and stakeholders Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills Ability to interpret and apply a variety of instructions across different situations BENEFITS $70,000 to $85,000 annually based on experience 2 weeks paid time off 401(k) with up to 7% employer match Health insurance through BCBS, dental, and vision covered at 80% (70% for family) Employee Assistance Program Complimentary gym access at Providence Group term life insurance Short term and long term disability Accident, critical illness, and hospitalization coverage FSA and HSA options with annual employer HSA contribution of $1,000 to $1,500 #J-18808-Ljbffr
