This role is ideal for an experienced Registered Nurse who enjoys variety, thrives in fast-paced pediatric environments, and is comfortable caring for patients across multiple units. You’ll float to areas such as PICU, NICU, Pediatric Med-Surg, Pediatric ED boarders, Peds PACU , and occasionally postpartum/mother-baby when needed. Job Details Employment Type: Travel Nursing Setting: Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool Location: Charlottesville, Virginia Start Date: September 14, 2026 Duration: 16 weeks Hours Per Week: 36 Shift Duration: 12-hour nights Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020 - $2,130 Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend expected Holiday Coverage: Must work 2 of 3 winter holidays Orientation: 60 hours Floating: PICU, NICU, Pediatric ED, Acute Pediatrics, and occasionally L&D/Mother-Baby as needed Job Requirements Active Registered Nurse license or eligible pending license by the required start deadline 2 years of PICU experience required Prior NICU experience required; must be comfortable caring for pediatric patients across multiple units Epic charting experience required Required certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS Infant-Driven Feeding certification required; may submit with certification pending Experience with travel nursing strongly preferred Ability to adapt quickly to changing patient needs and support a float pool model BSN preferred Responsibilities Provide safe, high-quality nursing care to pediatric, neonatal, and adolescent patients in a float pool environment Deliver care in high-acuity settings including PICU, NICU, Pediatric ED, and Acute Pediatrics Monitor and manage patients requiring ventilatory support, hemodynamic monitoring, and specialized pediatric interventions Support families through compassionate, relationship-based care Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapy, child life, and other interdisciplinary partners Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and follow unit-specific workflows and float policies Respond to changing assignments with professionalism, flexibility, and strong clinical judgment Contribute to a team environment focused on evidence-based, patient-centered care Location Highlights Charlottesville offers a welcoming blend of scenic beauty, historic charm, and a vibrant healthcare community.
