CNC Machine Operator - 2nd Shift

What You'll Own

• Run assigned Mazak 5-axis horizontal or vertical CNC machines through a full 2nd-shift production cycle, hitting cycle time targets on repeat jobs within 60 days.
• Perform in-process inspection using calipers, micrometers, and bore gauges; escalate any out-of-tolerance condition immediately and every time, without exception.
• Read prints and router sheets accurately from day one; log downtime and reason codes correctly each shift.
• Recognize tool wear before failure and flag it proactively. (Level II: independently troubleshoot chatter, dimensional drift, and tool life drops using logic, not guesswork.)
• Contribute zero MRB or containment events from operator error; catch potential nonconformances before they happen.
• Level II only: Set up new jobs from print and router with minimal guidance; mentor a Level I machinist on your machine and hold tolerances in the +/-0.0005" range accounting for thermal drift and machine-specific quirks.

What We Bring

Delva Tool & Machine is an AS9100 Rev D certified precision shop in Cinnaminson, NJ, producing components for aerospace and defense programs including PAC-3. We hold tolerances to +/-0.0002" across aluminum, titanium, stainless, and tool steels. Our facility runs Vertical Mills, Lathes, Swiss Lathes, and Mazak 5-axis horizontals with robotic loaders and automated pallet systems across two shifts. This is not a job shop producing random widgets. The parts you run end up in fielded defense systems, and the quality bar reflects that.
What You Bring

Must-have (Machinist I):

• Ability to operate CNC machine tools safely and independently.
• Basic measurement skills: calipers, micrometers, bore gauges.
• Ability to read and follow traveler work instructions and engineering prints.
• High school diploma, GED, trade/vocational certificate, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Availability for 2nd shift (nights).

Must-have (Machinist II, in addition to the above):

• 3+ years of CNC machining experience with demonstrated setup capability.
• Ability to interpret GD&T callouts including true position and bonus tolerance logic.
• Experience troubleshooting tool wear, dimensional drift, and surface finish issues without supervision.
• Track record of holding tight tolerances (+/-0.0005" or better) in a production environment.

Nice to have (either level):

• Experience on Mazak 5-axis horizontals or DMU-style multi-axis machines.
• Familiarity with Eurotech (or similar) CNC lathes.
• Background in aerospace or defense manufacturing.
• Experience running lights-out or automated pallet/robotic loader systems.

Pay and Schedule

$23.00 - $37.50/hr ($47,840 - $78,000/yr) depending on level and experience. The range already includes the 2nd-shift differential. 2nd shift (nights), Monday through Friday.
