Pharmacy Technician

Work Schedule

The hospital pharmacy is open Monday - Friday 9am-9pm, Saturday and Sunday 8am-8pm. Technicians work 40 hours per week on a rotating schedule which includes every 5th weekend.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required from an accredited institution
• Current pharmacy technician license required
• Previous hospital-based pharmacy experience preferred
• Basic math, computer, and telephone skills are necessary; medical terminology helpful
• Manual dexterity, mobility and good visual acuity required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (available through Hillsdale Hospital)

Responsibilities

• Count, package and label unit dose and bulk medication for inspection by pharmacist
• Replenish floor stock and distribute medications to nursing units
• Assist pharmacist in filling orders and prepare labels including oral dosage forms and admixture of sterile products
• Order, receive and store pharmacy materials
• Maintain inventory, order and cleanliness of storage area including the removal of outdated inventory
• Use vendor websites to verify availability and pricing
• Perform accounting tasks such as cash register deposits and end of month reports
• Maintain department records, reports and files
