Job Description

Performs medical screening examinations in an inpatient or outpatient setting for patients of all ages. Supports medical readiness by performing periodic health assessments, deployment health assessments, separation physicals, commissioning physicals, and retirement physicals. Examines patients and performs initial patient work-up and assessment of patients' care and treatment, and determines the need for and orders laboratory tests, X-rays and other procedures necessary to complete assessment of the patient. Diagnoses disease, illness disorder or injury; institutes treatment of patients; and seeks the advice of appropriate physicians for more serious or uncommon conditions. Participates in all required processes including Medical Staff programs, accreditation/inspection preparations, and risk management activities as assigned. Position may require incumbent to specialize in surgery, providing preoperative and postoperative care, and may work as first or second assistants during major surgery.
