About the Role

Boltacity is a growing NYC-based managed IT services provider (MSP) supporting clients across multiple industries, primarily on Microsoft 365 with some clients on Google Workspace. We're looking for a part-time IT Technician to join our team, working from our NYC office and providing Level 1 support to clients — primarily remote support via ticketing, with occasional in-person visits to client sites across NYC. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their IT career to gain hands-on MSP experience while working alongside our senior technician on day-to-day support.

We're especially looking for someone who is passionate about IT and eager to grow and learn. We love to teach, and we want this person to really grow with us over time.

This role starts as part-time (3 days/week, 1099 contract), with strong potential to move to full-time based on performance and fit.

Responsibilities

• Handle incoming helpdesk tickets, resolving Level 1 issues such as:

• Password resets and account unlocks
\n
• Software installation and updates
\n
• Basic troubleshooting for Windows and Mac desktops and laptops
\n
• Connectivity issues (Wi-Fi, VPN, network drives)
\n
• General user support requests
\n
• Support users across both Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace environments
\n
• Escalate more complex technical issues to senior technicians when needed
\n
• Occasionally visit client sites within NYC to assist with in-person support when remote resolution isn't possible
\n
• Document ticket resolutions clearly and consistently in our ticketing system
\n
• Maintain a professional, friendly, and responsive approach when communicating with clients
\n

Qualifications

\n
• 1-2 years of IT support or helpdesk experience preferred
\n
• Comfortable working on both Windows and Mac operating systems
\n
• Basic understanding of networking concepts (Wi-Fi, VPN, connectivity troubleshooting)
\n
• Experience with Microsoft 365 and/or Google Workspace a plus
\n
• IT certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar) preferred but not required
\n
• Strong communication skills and a customer-service mindset
\n
• Comfortable providing remote support to end users
\n
• Comfortable commuting via subway to client sites when needed (travel costs covered)
\n
