What You'll Do

• Perform peripheral and line blood draws as required for patient care
• Place and manage IVs, including peripheral IV starts and line-related access needs
• Access and support care for ports and PICC lines, including line dressings
• Support treatment workflows involving chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and IV antibiotics
• Assist with patient care requiring vigilance for oncology-related emergencies (e.g., tumor lysis syndrome, cytokine release syndrome)
• Support nursing care related to insulin drips and heparin drips as directed
• Follow strong infection prevention and patient safety/falls prevention protocols
• Complete documentation using Epic (computerized charting)

What You Need

Required:

• BLS
• IV therapy skills including: IV starts, Phlebotomy / blood draws, Peripheral line care/management, Central line blood draw, PICC line management, Starting IVs
• Experience with blood product administration

Preferred:

• Oncology experience (preferred, not required)

About the Assignment This outpatient hematology/oncology role supports patients with hematology malignancies including multiple myeloma, chronic leukemia, and lymphoma, including care before and after BMT/CART transplant. The unit emphasizes safe, detail-oriented IV access and blood draws, with education and support through orientation and preceptorship. Staffing ratios are targeted around 1:4 (goal) and may be 1:5 based on unit needs; weekends are variable.
