Accountant Opportunity The Accountant is responsible for analyzing, recording, reconciling, validating, and maintaining financial information to support accurate financial reporting and organizational decision‑making. The role participates in month‑end and year‑end close activities, financial reconciliations, grant reporting, audit preparation, and internal control processes. The Accountant serves as a resource to departments by assisting with financial problem‑solving, interpreting financial data, and supporting compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements. Compensation and Benefits $62,067 - $67,600 start pay range, based on education and experience. Full‑time, in‑person position (8:00 am – 4:30 pm weekdays). PTO, paid holidays, health, dental, vision insurance, on‑site cafeteria, pharmacy, and more. Eligibility for Wisconsin Retirement System with 7.2% employee contribution matched at 100% by NCHC. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field. More than 1 year of accounting or finance experience. Experience with general ledger functions, reconciliations, and month‑end/year‑end close processes. Experience utilizing accounting systems and financial reporting tools. Preferred: 1+ year in healthcare accounting, grant reporting, audit preparation, proficiency with Excel, and experience with healthcare financial software such as MIP, Cerner, Net Health, PointClickCare, Matrix, Tier, UKG. Responsibilities Analyze, reconcile, and maintain general ledger accounts. Participate in month‑end and year‑end close processes, including journal entries and financial analysis. Prepare and maintain bank and other balance sheet reconciliations. Assist with annual audit preparation and grant reporting. Manage fixed‑asset accounting, depreciation, construction‑in‑progress, and write‑offs. Improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Collaborate with departments to correct financial errors and improve reporting accuracy. Serve as a resource to staff on accounting procedures. Assist with resident trust accounting, fund transfers, and related reconciliations. Support compliance with federal, state, organizational, and audit requirements. Assist with financial filings and documentation. Provide backup support for accounts payable, payroll, cashiering, and other operations. Participate in training and mentoring. Develop and maintain documentation for procedures and workflows. Complete special projects and ad hoc reporting. Working Environment and Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use. Frequent repetitive hand movements. Ability to review detailed financial information for long periods. Communicates effectively in person, by phone, and electronically. Primarily indoor office environment. Occasional exposure to irritated or hostile individuals and communicable illnesses. Minimal travel may be required.
