Job Description

Occupational Therapist

The Occupational Therapist evaluates, plans, and delivers occupational therapy services for pediatric patients referred by a licensed independent practitioner. This role provides direct patient care, family education, care coordination, and transition planning in an efficient, age-appropriate, culturally sensitive, and family-centered manner. The Occupational Therapist collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to support optimal functional outcomes, maximize independence, and improve quality of life for children and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

• Performs comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations and provides evidence-based treatment interventions in accordance with physician orders, regulatory requirements, and professional practice standards.
• Provides safe, compliant, and family-centered clinical care that supports optimal patient outcomes and aligns with established occupational therapy standards of practice.
• Collaborates with physicians, caregivers, educators, and interdisciplinary team members to develop, implement, and modify individualized plans of care that address the unique needs of pediatric patients and their families.
• Educates patients, families, and caregivers regarding treatment plans, home exercise programs, adaptive strategies, equipment recommendations, and functional skill development.
• Conducts ongoing patient assessments, monitors progress toward established goals, and modifies treatment plans as clinically indicated.
• Completes timely, accurate, and compliant documentation, including evaluations, treatment notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries within established organizational standards.
• Coordinates discharge planning and transition-of-care activities to promote continuity of care and successful patient outcomes.
• Maintains current knowledge of regulatory requirements, scope of practice standards, coding and billing practices, documentation requirements, and revenue cycle processes applicable to occupational therapy services.
• Serves as an active member of the rehabilitation team and contributes to professional development through mentoring, clinical education, and support of students and colleagues as appropriate.
• Participates in departmental initiatives, quality improvement activities, program development efforts, and organizational committees to enhance patient care, safety, and operational effectiveness.
• Maintains professional competency through continuing education, evidence-based practice, and ongoing review of emerging clinical research and best practices.
• Supports a culture of safety, compliance, service excellence, and family-centered care while upholding the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
• Delivers care consistent with the organization's professional practice model and commitment to patient-centered, family-focused care.

Required Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program (Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree accepted as applicable to licensure requirements).
• Current Occupational Therapist license in the state of practice.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Knowledge of pediatric rehabilitation principles, treatment techniques, and family-centered care practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• One (1) year of occupational therapy experience preferred; motivated new graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Pediatric rehabilitation experience.
• Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) credential.
• Experience working within an interdisciplinary pediatric healthcare environment.
• Experience with standardized pediatric assessments and outcome measures.

Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
