Project Manager (Water)

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of water and wastewater projects from initial planning through to completion. This role will involve managing projects across the full lifecycle, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. You will work closely with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders to establish clear objectives, agree project plans and maintain effective communication throughout.


Your responsibilities will include preparing and managing programmes, budgets, risk registers, procurement activities and project documentation. You will coordinate design development, construction and commissioning activities, monitor progress against key milestones and implement corrective action where required. The role will also involve managing change, identifying and mitigating commercial and operational risks, reviewing contractor performance, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, technical standards, environmental requirements and health and safety procedures. You will provide regular reports and updates, lead project meetings and support the resolution of technical, contractual and delivery issues.


Applicants should have proven experience managing projects within the water, utilities, civil engineering or infrastructure sectors, together with a sound understanding of construction processes, contract management and project controls. A recognised project management qualification, such as APM, PRINCE2 or equivalent, would be advantageous. Strong organisational, financial and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to build effective working relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels. You should be commercially aware, confident making decisions and capable of managing competing priorities in a demanding delivery environment. A relevant technical, engineering or construction qualification and membership of a professional body would also be beneficial.
