Job Title

Registered Nurse (RN) – IMC/PCU/Stepdown

Location

Omaha, NE | Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (6:30 PM – 6:30 AM) | Every Other Weekend Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 55-bed PCU unit serving primarily adult patients, with occasional pediatric patients aged 15 and older, at a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Manage common patient diagnoses including CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, subdural hematoma, weakness, and COVID
• Administer and monitor common drips and medications including PCA pumps for pain management, Cardizem, and insulin
• Perform telemetry monitoring and demonstrate competency with IV pumps (Alaris) and EPIC EMR
• Conduct hourly rounding and maintain a strong focus on patient responsiveness and experience
• Float to medical-surgical areas as needed based on unit census and staffing requirements; pass a required open-book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in good standing
• Current ACLS certification required
• Current BLS certification required
• Telemetry competency required
• Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; candidates currently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity Health, are not eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a PCU, stepdown, or intermediate care setting
• Familiarity with EPIC EMR and Alaris IV pump systems
• Experience managing patients with neurological and cardiac diagnoses
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented unit environment
