About the Role

Are you great with your hands, highly organized, and looking to break into the world of IT and AV systems? We are looking for a hungry, detail-oriented Junior Field Systems & Cabling Technician to join our team.

You don’t need to know how to configure a network firewall on day one. We are looking for someone who has mastered the basics of low-voltage cabling and is eager to learn the rest. You will start by owning the physical infrastructure side of our projects—cabling, mounting, and site mapping—while actively being mentored by our senior engineering team to learn advanced network and AV deployment.

Key Responsibilities

1. What You Will Do on Day One (Your Core Focus)

• Physical Infrastructure: Run, route, test, trace, and neatly manage low-voltage copper and fiber cabling on both new construction and renovation sites.
• Hardware Mounting: Safely mount wireless access points (APs), standard displays/TVs, smart cameras, and clean up equipment racks.
• Field Documentation: Serve as our "eyes and ears" on-site. You will take precise notes, sketch floor plans, and upload photos/layouts to our shared Google Sheets and OneDrive folders so our remote team knows exactly what the site looks like.
• Logistics & Route Planning: Take ownership of your daily schedule. You will be given the autonomy to plan the most efficient routes between client sites based on your location.

2. What We Will Teach You to Do (Your Growth Track)

• Network Provisioning: Learn to connect and secure devices to the network, working side-by-side with senior techs during the testing phase.
• Remote Diagnostic Collaboration: Learn to use tools like laptops, network adapters, and remote-access software (Splashtop) to assist remote engineers with live switch configurations.
• Advanced Systems Exposure: Assist our senior team on large-scale deployments, giving you hands-on exposure to advanced firewalls, commercial access control, and smart automation systems (like Control4).

What You Bring (Qualifications & Skills)

• The Basics: 1–2 years of experience pulling/terminating cable (Cat6), or equivalent technical trade school training.
• The Tech Baseline: A basic understanding of what routers, switches, and access points do. You must be comfortable navigating a laptop daily.
• Extreme Organization: You love a systematic process. You are the type of person who naturally keeps a neat notebook, marks tasks by date/site, and ensures paperwork doesn't get lost.
• Strong Communication: You will interact directly with clients and property managers. You need to be professional, polite, and comfortable keeping clients updated while you work.
• Coachability: You aren't afraid to say "I don't know, let me check." You are ready to take direction from senior techs (both on-site and over the phone) and apply it quickly.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

This is an active, hands-on field role requiring physical stamina and practical problem-solving.

• Ladder Work: Comfort working safely on ladders for extended periods (up to 2–3 hours at a time). Comfort-focused footwear is a must!
• Lifting & Tool Handling: Ability to pull heavy cable runs, handle standard hand/power tools, and safely lift/transport AV equipment.
• Mobility: Comfort transporting tools and equipment safely using carts and elevators, including navigating public transit or driving to remote job sites as required.
