Accountant Position

CommonBond is seeking an experienced accountant to join their accounting team. This person will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month-end close processes, and supporting the preparation of financial reports. Key responsibilities include reconciling accounts, ensuring correct eliminations for affiliated entities and assisting with audits. This person will also play a vital role in ensuring compliance with financial regulations and supporting the overall financial health of the organization.

Essential duties and responsibilities include maintaining accurate financial records for each of the affiliated entities ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures, performing daily and monthly bank reconciliations utilizing Yardi automated functionality, executing recurring journal entries, managing proper backup documentation, and reconciling all general ledger and corporate accounts. Additionally, this role involves processing monthly expense uploads with precise account coding, preparing and completing quarterly sales and use tax reporting, maintaining debt schedules and supporting schedules for assets, liabilities and depreciation, and assisting with cash transfers and coordinating special accounting projects as directed by management.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include extensive knowledge of GAAP, strong understanding of corporate accounting principles, including consolidations, intercompany eliminations, and financial reporting, experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP Concur, Yardi) and advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIF, macros), proficiency in financial analysis and forecasting with the ability to interpret complex data, excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy, strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Education and other requirements include a minimum of a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field, 0-2 years of corporate accounting experience, preferably within property management or real estate, experience working with consolidations and multiple sets of books, experience in Yardi is preferred, advanced proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUPs and pivot tables), ability to maintain tight and effective internal control procedures, strong analytical capabilities, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple entity deadlines simultaneously. Demonstrated experience working within diverse communities, which include people of various ages, genders, sexual orientations, national origins, income levels, ability levels, religious affiliations, races, and languages is also required. Ability to work independently and cross-functionally, excellent customer service, organization, and both written and oral communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple duties while adhering to established deadlines are also necessary.

Preferred requirements include experience in non-profit, experience with Yardi (ERP system), experience in property management, and experience in public accounting.

Work environment includes a smoke-free work environment, quiet to moderate noise level, ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs, ability to file documents, ability to enter data into a computer, and ability to interact verbally with internal and external audiences.

Physical environment includes lifting up to 50#s, frequent lifting, sitting, bending, stooping, standing, reaching, pushing, pulling, and hot or cold temp variances.
