As an Addiction Counselor at PHRI, you'll walk beside individuals on their journey to recovery, empowering them to rediscover strength, rebuild confidence, and renew purpose.You'll combine clinical skill with compassion, using evidence-based practices and trauma-informed care to help clients achieve sobriety, stability, and self-sufficiency.In this role, you are the difference between despair and hope, between relapse and recovery, between surviving and truly living.What You'll DoYou'll serve as both guide and advocate, creating pathways for clients to reach recovery while fostering trust, safety, and respect.Your Core ResponsibilitiesMaintain an assigned caseload in accordance with COMAR and CARF regulations.Conduct psychosocial assessments and interpretive summaries for new clients within 5 days of admission.Collaborate with treatment teams to create individualized, person-centered care plans and regularly update them based on client progress.Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions that promote healing and self-awareness.Develop and oversee aftercare and follow-up plans, ensuring clients remain supported beyond discharge.Coordinate care with Health Home and community resources, ensuring a holistic approach to wellness.Uphold meticulous documentation standards and compliance within PHRI's EMR system.Empower clients with knowledge, accountability, and encouragement to sustain long-term recovery.Serve as a beacon of empathy and professionalism, fostering trust and integrity in every interaction.Every session you lead, every plan you design, every life you touch — becomes a part of PHRI's legacy of healing.What You'll BringYou bring more than credentials — you bring heart. You understand the complexities of addiction, the resilience of the human spirit, and the power of a caring professional to change everything.Required QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Behavioral Health, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.Current DC Licensure: CAC, LGPC, LGSW, or higher.At least 2 years of experience providing SUD counseling or related behavioral health services (preferred).Strong familiarity with ASAM criteria and evidence-based treatment models.Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe, and healthcare software tools.Legally authorized to work in the United States.You are a natural communicator, a problem solver, and above all — a compassionate listener who sees the person before the problem.Core CompetenciesAt PHRI, we believe in leaders who bring structure, empathy, and innovation to their work.
