Job Title: Respiratory Aide

Reports To: Director of Cardio-Pulmonary

Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Cardio-Pulmonary Director and Cardio-Pulmonary staff, the Respiratory Aide assists in patient care activities, as directed by licensed staff.

General Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities

• Provides direct age-appropriate care to patients as directed by collaborating physicians, nursing and other hospital staff in providing Respiratory Care Services.
• Performs phases of airway management which includes oral airways, nasal airways, and bag mask ventilation, as directed by licensed staff.
• Cleans, disinfects, sterilizes and monitors equipment/facilities, as delegated by licensed staff.
• Assembles respiratory equipment, as delegated by licensed staff.
• Collects and reviews patient data and non-invasive vitals.
• Maintains nasal cannula or face mask for oxygen therapy in the proper position on the patient.
• Performs assisted ventilation in emergency resuscitation using a manual resuscitator, as directed by licensed staff.
• Helps prepare and stock supplies within the Respiratory Department.
• Complies with all established safety procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.
• Participates in performance improvement activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

• High School diploma / Equivalent Required
• Must be enrolled in an Accredited RRT Program

License/Certification Requirements

• BLS Required

Experience Requirements

• Healthcare experience Preferred
